Hankook RS4 - HPDE
For my HPDE only set of wheels and tires I am looking at these for durability.
running on my 18x10 forgeline can't seem to find 275/35 so looking at maybe the 265/35 or 285/35 any thoughts? or should I look at a different tire? price and durability seem to keep this at the forefront. Thanks |

I recently ran a staggered set of 265 front and 285 rear on 10.5" wheels and was happy with it. If you don't mind doing staggered like that it its a good setup. Have thought about doing 285 squared next, but from a cost perspective and not trying to "win" any HPDE's 265 square would probably be fine.

it appears that the 285 should fit comparing to my rival s 1.5 that are coming off of the wheels
tread width is just .5 wider and section width is .8 wider with the same overall height I could always put a 5mm spacer on the front if needed I run online r&t and upgraded the front to 65mm width springs so it moved the perch height up. |

Were the 275s discontinued outright? It seems like Hankook makes a fixed amount each year, and when they're gone, they're gone. Is a fresh batch entering production soon? OP -- if you're not competing, consider a 285 width if it clears. Bigger tires last longer. The Rival S, NT01, RE71R, and R888R are all proven choices. Heck, even the "old" AD08R would be worth considering. A lot of people like the Nankang AR-1 but that's getting pretty aggressive for street use.

edit: Found them, but at the price after tax and shipping might as well just order 265's or 285's that are currently on sale from TireRack https://hankookmotorsports.com/product/275-35zr18-rs4/

They still sell the 275 to race leagues like Lucky Dog, but not to the public.

Another option is the Nexen SUR 4G.

NT01 was only a second faster than the RS4 for me right before cording, but the NT01 takes heat so much better also.

That is true.. when my RS4 heat cycled out there was tons of tread left. I tossed them because I don't run square on street, already have street wheels with PSS, and needed space to put new tires on my track wheels.
I value grip, so a heat cycled out tire is not so useful to me. For the right person, could make good drift practice tires I guess! |

RS4 is a really great starter tire. All the guys I know that started out on Rs3's at the time seemed to get faster quicker with better control than those of us that jumped quickly to R compounds.
