throttle bodies are tricky. might help, might not do anything depending on how the motor is built. its said that shorter is for horsepower and longer is for torque. i would guess that widening without lengthening would have the equivalent effect of having a "shorter" throttle body without shortening it. you essentially change the air velocity which these cars like at 8k rpms.
i would theorize a higher displacement car would appreciate the throttle bodies but it might depend on how they achieve the increased displacement. i was thinking about the throttle bodies a while back, but after research and talking with people i trust, i decided against them.
yup! there is a base build and the other stuff are options. The Dinan throttle bodies are just over $2k, after taking out the core charge: https://www.dinancars.com/product/d7...e90-e92-e93-2/

Glad to hear it's not a major piece of FOMO if one doesn't get it. It also looks like it's something that can be installed later without major major labor costs.. is that correct?

right, you could always add them later pretty easily.

i'd personally forego the throttle bodies for the karbonius intake. the karbonius is said to add about 10hp over a drop-in filter. nothing to really shout about, but its about as much as the throttle bodies- plus, you lose 10lbs off the top of the engine and get the glorious sound and a beautiful engine bay.
you just have to realize that you're doing it for all of the above listed reasons, and not for 10hp. you don't gain $2,600 worth of "performance." once i got over that, i realized i wanted it.

Man, I don't think I can bring myself to spend $2,600 on that airbox either 😂

You just have to be ok with being mildly crazy. But once you accept it, you'll feel better.

What is everyone using product-wise to de-funkify your helmets?

Also, being a track instructor has it's perks:

In case anyone is interested, I ended up modifying the DCT cover panel. With the Slon DCT pan, the cover presses right up against the cooling fins.

I enlarged the front openings, hoping they will catch more air and created an "exhaust" vent on the backside. I'm not sure if this will actually help, but I'm hoping it as least doesn't hurt cooling.

Also did not drive it 10/10ths because 1) not mine and 2) I don't have $200k to replace it. I need that V8 in my life now, though.

At MSRH today. Car seemed to run great and felt good. When packing up, I noticed a ton of P/S fluid was leaking, so I need to fix that before next event. Was fun, accidentally made a passenger get motion sickness.

I use Helmet Fresh and have been for about a decade. My only real gripe is that they don't sell larger bottles and these small ones have cheap pumps that routinely stop working.

Molecule has some helmet care products as well.

Use a deodorizer as soon as you can after an event. I only use a cleaner if I got really sweaty -- a headsock will greatly help with that.

After two years of trying to break into the 1:36 range at NYST, I got into the 1:35 yesterday.

M Euro mode on
First session in got into 1:36.7
Second session 1:36.4
Third session 1:35.7

In the afternoon I turned of DSC:
1:36.11

It was a very happy day yesterday.

I will post the video on my 2019 NYST thread later.

two years of experimenting with tires, psi, alignments, many different lines thru each corner, new set of brake pads and new front and rear Hoosiers 26/35/19 and 295/30/19, perfect weather, low attendance (clear track) and an awesome rabbit to chase around.

The funny story is that the last track day I chased the same guy, but last time he had McLaren 520, so when he showed up with the 720s, we joked that I was too close to him.

As you will see in the video, it took me 3 laps to wear him down :-)

I just use molecule sports refresh. Exterior isn't an issue in tin top cars to get a "kit"

I would guess that just the new Hoosiers would give you the time difference. The other tires you’ve been running do not compare.

From what I recall, I don't think this is his first set of the Hoosiers.

In my experience, it's difficult for some folks to get everything out of a new set of Hoosiers the first couple of times. A lot folks have to work their way up to trusting the available grip. YMMV.
