2013 convertible

Jerez Black, 45,000 miles DCT. Needed engine mounts but had new set of pilot sport.. $29k. I thought it was a fair deal given the condition.

So far I love the blue black Jerez - we'll see what it's like to live with! (Those orange reflectors have to go)

Depending on where I check the car was either a lease/buyout by the original owner, or a lease/CPO sale with two owners. The original dealer as well as the reselling dealer wouldn't give me any info. I really couldn't care less. The entire car was covered in 3M protection film, then vinyl wrapped. Car was used mainly for promotions and shows. Blemish and wear free inside and out. And WHOA does it sound goooood....
This is a perfectly optioned car and you got a screaming deal on this. I am jealous. One of the best deals I've seen in this thread.

Thank you. As always, I have to first express thanks to BOOF-M3 for using up many hours out of his life over at least a year of searching to help me shop for this car. It was the precise spec I had been looking for, and had nearly every mod I'd wanted to buy. Gotta laugh - while I waited for it to arrive I made a list of things I'd want to add to it, but when it came off the trailer I started checking things off the list until all that remained was test pipes and a tune. Of course, that means I just had to make a new list.

The build is just part of it though...

I knew the car had a show history but I couldn't find out any details. The dealers weren't any help nor did they have any obligation to me to provide any info, and I have to respect that they were protecting the previous owner. It was completely by chance that I found a tiny piece of info left on the car - a decal covering one of the hub emblems! - that finally gave me the clue I needed to track down the PO. Once I did I looked into the car's history via posts and shared photos I learned just how carefully he had taken care of this car. The paint has basically never touched air since shortly after he took delivery due to the PPF, and then it spent most of its life wrapped in vinyl so after the first couple of years or so the paint never saw sunlight either.

I'm still trying to figure out what products the guy used to keep the leather looking new and smelling new. At nearly 8 years old the interior appeared to have just left Regensburg. The seats honestly looked like they'd never been sat in, whereas I had the usual "shallow wrinkle" we all get in the driver's seat within a couple of months. I'd say he probably rode passenger in a car next to this one and leaned in the window to steer it but I doubt he ever opened the windows, so he must have driven from a hammock supported by the clothes hooks.

Seriously, not a particle of dust anywhere in or on the car, not a flake of debris, or any oxidation. That can't have been the dealership "get ready" department, though they did a great job. The only thing I found wrong were two small 90 degree pieces of sealing rubber under the hood had turned white, and the windshield molding had turned up at the top left corner.

Ooh, its busted, return it for a refund.

Nope.

Was worried for awhile that I may have overpaid for my e92, but after reading through the thread, I feel much better about it.

When purchased: August 2019
Year and Model: 2009 E92 M3
Color: Space Grey (carbon roof, black leather, carbon interior)
Miles: 70k
Options: EDC, iDrive, Comfort Access, (still unsure what audio)
Trans: DCT

Paid 22.5k

The only thing that almost held me back was that the car was re sprayed. Per the previous owner, it was hit up with salt from a salt truck, so the insurance covered a full re spray. Owner was up front about it and the paint looked great, so I pulled the trigger.

I can't believe they will get too much cheaper. A lot of car for that money. They are not Hemi Chargers.

huh? E90 prices are not "tanking" recently.. most people agree a well sorted E90 is actually harder to come across this year vs last year..

Especially 2011 E90 ZCP 6MT slicktop cars with low mileage. The market for low mileage cars like that bottomed a couple of years ago and has started appreciating. If you have one with 15k miles, you'll get an instant bank wire offer from EAG that will be way above what many would expect.

There are strong hands out there ready to buy E90 M3s with under 50k that haven't been daily driven, have always been garaged, never in snow and present essentially as new. E90 M3's like that are very hard to find, and if you restrict that circle to 2011s, excellent documented provenance, as-new condition, no or easily reversed modifications...they're very, very hard to find.

The market for E92s is different than the sedans given the much, much greater supply of coupes as one main factor with preference being the second factor.

Wish I had looked through this thread before getting into an auction but.. really went with my heart here.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-bmw-m3-44/

E92 M3
23k Miles
6MT
Competition Package
Jerez Black Metallic over Black Cloth
No iDrive
Carbon fiber roof
No Accidents, majority of wear appears to be on underside (more pics underside) + curb rash on rims
All stock everything
Sold for $45,666 .. I'm picking it up tomorrow and I'm so excited. But do tell if I'm crazy for this one. Almost want to say the other bidder was trolling once we got past his max, since he kept bidding just above me? Knew I'd take the bait?

big pluses for me.. very low miles, manual transmission, been in California its whole life, no leather (why does that always get to looking so weird?), no iDrive (looks like a pain to use)

You got a phenomenal spec. Not crazy if it's the spec and car you wanted.. Single hump, speed cloth, 6 speed, CF roof, and low miles. It definitely checks the boxes almost everywhere on what people see as the most valuable these days.

One piece of advice just based on my regrets/experience (purely my opinion) but go get it properly/professionally detailed soon after you get it.. polished and coated.. depending on where and how much you intend to drive it, I'd drop the 1.5-2K to get it perfect up front and then you can maintain it at top level from there. just a random thought based on what I would do with a phenomenal spec if I had one.

You did right with getting the cloth+6sp. I thought about bidding on that one to add a 6 speed to the stable, but I'm a stickler for heated seats and Individual Audio. I shopped for my car for over a year before finding the combo I wanted. Its going to be worse getting my build with the gear-stirrer this time. Manuals were sitting on lots when I started shopping but they've dried up now.

As far as the price goes... I'm happy for everyone concerned, especially me. The prices on low-mile cars are climbing and my car is just over 21k. I'll probably hit 23k by January... of 2021.

Yeah, you never know in an auction if there's shill bidder, but it's done and you got a rare spec car with very low mileage. Undercarriage looks superb like one would expect with that mileage and no winter roads. I noticed in one pic of a tire that there is a plug at a location in the beginning of an edge tread block, so I'd look closely at that as it might have been plugged when it should have been replaced (hard to guess since picture is cut off), but new PS4S should be on tap for such a cool car anyway.

Enjoy the beautiful E92!

Or consider getting a PPF on there. My car has the previous gen 3M film (Invisiguard?), a whole body treatment installed when the car was new in 2011. Even though the windshield has a billion (I counted them) tiny stone chips in it, the paint looks perfect. The PPF did its job. I'll eventually have the glass replaced, but thats a lot easier to do then repaint the car.

Only drawback to the film, assuming you go top shelf and get XPel, its pricey. I think its $7k to get the whole car done with that stuff.
