Missing Bolt on top of Intake plenum
Hi all, I am missing one of the two hexagonal bolts/nuts on the top of the intake plenum. I've tried searching around to figure out the part number of these, but haven't had any luck.
I've been having the whistling noise that is detailed in this thread, and I'm thinking when I remove the plenum to fix that noise I'd like to replace the bolt at the same time. From what I gather they look to be mostly for show, but nevertheless I'd like to fix what is a small simple part that bothers me by not being there each time I open the hood! Thanks! |

Chrome nuts on top of the manifold are for decoration only.

I recall reading somewhere in this forum that the nuts cover part of the mold used to form the plastic intake. There may have been supports underneath the nuts inside the manifold that were removed after it was made. Anyway, I recall reading something along those lines.

With all the people upgrading to carbon plenums, the prices of oem plenums should go down. They go for $200-400 depending on condition.

Or they keep the stock ones so they can part the mods to sell when they get rid of the car.
I was thinking that with all the S65 blowing up, there should be a good supply of plenums should you need one for some reason, like you dropped your sledgehammer on it while working under the hood. |

Ended up purchasing one of these bolts, I may end up just epoxying it on. Thanks for the replies!

I had the same issue when i bought my car the bolt was already broken ... I used Gorilla 2-part "5 minute" epoxy to attach a new bolt/nut and have never had a problem

It's likely that someone took them off during work on the top side and then over-torqued it when they put it back together. Ask me how I know.
