May I ask what mounts did you use with your racetech seat? I wish to maximise headroom, will the racetech side mounts work mounted directly to the floor? Images below is the new RT4100 with head restraints |

I have been dabbling into research of a seat to use with OEM 3-point belt, not full on cage and harness. I hear Recaro Sportster CS is the way to go for this. What the ideal/correct brackets to use? I read MS brackets and sliders do not center the seat properly with steering wheel.

Thanks SQ13 at first glance seems like a good seat. Need to research further, see if it fits a skinny 5"11 person like me well

It's called Recaro RMS 2700G. Developed specifically for Japanese market. There's also the carbon fiber version called 2600A which is 3 times the price and takes much longer to produce...it's getting seriously irritating for customers as production is nowhere near the promised pace. I waited nearly a year to get my hands on this one after placing an order in January lol.

For those that don't want a halo seat because they drive on the street, how hard is it to swap the seats out? Would it make sense to get a nice halo seat for the track and an inexpensive sport seat for the street (Sparco has one for about $300)? The sport seat would be much better for street driving and would work better with the OEM 3 point system.

I'm using a Sparco Circuit right now. No issues on the street unless I'm trying to reverse in a parking lot..no biggie. |

Also, if the Ergo doesn't fit well, there's really no other option. I was thinking about having my cake and eat it too. I've done some more research and the only real option is to use something like the RaceTech RTRoad for the street (its a side mount fixed-back seat that has a 410mm mounting width). There are a handful of full containment seats that have a similar mounting width (Ergo is 415mm, Sparco Circuit II is 410mm, OMP HTE-R is 420mm). All of those would fit with the BK 390mm-429mm mounts for OEM sliders using the different sized spacers that come with the brackets. So ideally, you'd use the RTRoad for the street and then swap to the "other" seat at the track (its just 4 bolts on the side of the seat, right?). Unfortunately, the other Cobra seats like the Evolution and Sebring have 380mm mounting widths which would require re-orienting the BK bracket itself. |

Finally got my seat installed. For those running 6 point harness, you can run them without removing the backseat: you can get them hooked to child seat isofix mounts.

Looks unsafe to use the stock 3 point with that setup.

Are you saying that because the receiver is outside the seat?
Like Porsche did with Carrera GT >

... and the Carera GT is hardly known for being a safe car. Porsche's production cars do a much better job with that: As do BMW's: Maybe the sides of the CGT seat are low enough that that placement still allows for a snugged lap belt for most drivers. But, those Recaro sides are high! I'm a big dude, and I couldn't safely use the factory 3 point when I had a Recaro Profi SPG XL installed in my car, running over the top of the seat. (and passing it through the lap belt pass through hole created to extreme and angle to sit comfortably in the seat: )

Just to close on this, Ian from BK said why not just by an extra OEM slider for the other seat. Then you don't have to worry about trying to use the same mounts. Just swap out the whole thing. Duh, why didn't I think of that.

I don't know if it works on the e9X, but on the e46 a lot of people take one of the rear lap belt receivers and run them up front. They're not rigidly mounted (because they lack the pretensioner), so they can pass through the 4/5/6 point lap belt hole without issue. I believe that to be the lesser evil, if you have to choose between a loose seatbelt or nixing the pretensioner (if for no other reason than I don't think the pretensioner would do anything useful if the belt isn't in contact with you because of the seat). I wish I had a better picture of it, but I'm even using the pretensioner with my 6 point-- on the inboard side I'm using a quick fit lap belt mount for the factory receiver
