Highest flow/least restrictive intake

Hi guys,

I have a bit of a project going on:
- 4.4L stroker S65
- Custom forged crank
- Carillo rods and pistons
- 12.5:1 compression ratio
- Custom grind cams
- Driven by a Syvecs ECU

The engine was tuned on an engine dyno with a Life Racing ECU (the underlying Syvecs hardware is Life Racing) and put out 550HP/400 ft-lb at the crank. The thought that the life racing map would easily port into the Syvecs ECU didn't work out, so the car needs to be tuned again on a chassis dyno. The tuner did ask, "Are you using the stock intake?" "uh...yeah...why?" Hahaha. The majority of his work is race cars, so he says they use the least restrictive setup. That had me thinking that if there's something out there that flows better, it might be worth investigating. Ideas?

TIA,
Chester

With such a custom setup, why not just a filter directly off the manifold?

Ex: 997 GT3 Cup

Geoff Steel or Motorsports 24

Takes in air from kidney grills instead of driver side.

Will have to modify radiator mounting for either.

I went with Geoff Steal version.

It comes down to a few things: budget and appearance. I wasn't going to drop an additional $5k for headers to squeeze out 10 more HP. If an intake between $300 - $500 looks great and flows better, I might consider it, but I don't know what's out there. I saw kits like an aFe and I'm not sure how it would be an improvement over stock since it uses the stock airbox that has the same restrictive openings that allow air in. Maybe I'll just pretend that I have restrictors (this stroker 4.4 is built by the same guy):

Why didn't you engine dyno and tune with the Syvecs?
