911 GT3 or GTs RS?
I have always been a fan of both these cars and wandered what opinion is on this forum as to which one you would choose (and why)?
For me, i'd choose RS, simply because my character always wants the best and the most extreme. That coupled with the "pure" driving thrill does it for me. |

I really don't think either one of these cars will be considered an M3 competition just because they're both too expensive, probably at least double the price of an M3. But to answer your question, i'd rather go with the GT3 for it's clean simple looks.

GT3 RS, Orange with black wheels, no question.
Porsche kind of dropped the ball with the RS, imo, because they didn't give it more power, didn't remove any significant weight, nor did they go wide body. With that said, the RS does represent -basically- a full blown race car for the street with added exclusivity and great bold color schemes to boot. The GT3 is one of the few cars that you can get away with that georgeous rear wing without looking ricer. This car is the real, no compromise, deal. If you're going to spend $107,500k base for the GT3, what's another $18k? Besides, the RS will retain an even better residual. Some of the added cost is valuable. You get PCCB's and a factory roll cage, etc... Like you, I love single purpose, no non-sense, hard core sports cars. I want to feel every road irregularity and hear the engine scream to 8000 rpms, with a strong top end. I want to raise my heart rate by 10 bpm, just pulling it out of the garage. To me the RS will do just that. Last edited by devo; 01-01-2008 at 02:21 PM.. |

I like both the GT3 and the RS but would opt for the standard GT3. In fact, if it was offered without a sunroof in the US I would be tempted to just save my money and get one in a couple of years instead of an M3. I drove a Cayman S and I liked it, but it just isn't fast enough although it is plenty fun in the turns. The M3 is probably just about right for me at this point, all things considered. I'm pretty pleased with the job that BMW did on the car.

GT3 if you plan to use it primarily for the road, RS if you plan to track it often. I find the roll cage silly for a road car and the colour scheme and sticker ridiculous on the RS.

ISnt the RS like 20k more. It didnt seem like you get much for the money. I would be quite happy with a plain GT3. but I do love the bright green RS, I had a 1973 911 kelly green in college.

I've driven a 997 Turbo and a 996 GT3, they are both leagues ahead of any other car. On topic: Get an Orange/Black GT3 RS! The RS is set up to be a track car, less weight (like 40-50lbs), rollcage, stiffer setup, griper tires, plus, the rear is wider because it's based on a different car than the regular GT3 so it has more grip in the corners... Above all of that, though, who wouldn't want to own an Orange Porsche with 415hp? |

mmmmmmmmmm, ok. If you find an RS for 126K I will buy it! LOL. They are still marked up about 50K..... I can tell you that amongst the Pcar crowd, the serious track rats, the 7 GT3 is sort of a joke. It has a sunroof, stability control, blah blah blah. The RS OTOH, is a much more track oriented car. It all depends what you want. the 3 is more of a "road car" that would still kick ass at the track. The RS is more of a dedicated track car that you could still drive on the street. I could go on and on, but I degress. Let me know if you wanna buy a nice 6 GT3 (see below).
