Paranoid, or legit?
Ok so I just retuned from my dealer today and I have confirmed my number one spot for my M3 at my dealership. They estimate a delivery of early feb. They were kind enough to allocate me the first one...but as exciting as that is, i'm a little nervous. Ive heard many horror stories about dealerships ragging the hell out of special, new cars to test them out first hand prior to delivery. Normally, I wouldn't think twice but the M3 is obviously a hot item right now. Would any of you guys be a little concerned? I have a production/order number and what not so I know that it is, in their eyes, my car. I just get a little nervous thinking about it - probably just my excitment. What do you all think? What would you do?

Are you serious? You are buying a $60k car and you don't know how to deal with your dealer nor potential abuse of the car before it is in your possession? This sounds like to me.

No, i changed dealers. I just dont want to come off sounding like an ass by implying that they would rag a new car. I think most people would agree that the M3 is a pretty sought after car to even be in or see in person. I wanted people's feedback regarding if my worries were warrented. But thanks for the kind words.

just check the mileage when you get the car. Usually the car will have around 1-5 miles from PDI and filling it up with gas. Anything more than 15, and I would be worried.

1-2 miles sounds like the tops for me.

Performance Center Delivery (PCD)
Do a PCD. When I picked up my E46 M3 at Greer SC, I had 2 miles on the Odometer.

Sounds like it is a dealer demo at that point.

My 335 had 2 miles on it when I bought it plus some of the shipping wax.
I just heard from the dealer late February and no DCT. So, I am passing until I see DCT. I am still leaving my deposit, but with my commute, I must have DCT.

My dealer told me that they would probably be in production as an 09 in May/June 2008. Waiting 3-4 more months is no big deal for DCT.

Negotiate for Floor Mats
If you guys are going to pay for MSRP. I would negotiate for free floor mats. I'm doing a Military Sales Program and I just received a " Stateside Delivery Guidance for Customers" and it stated in there, "Also be advised that floor mats are an additional charge that you may purchase at your delivering dealer".
Huh? That Blows! Anyways, I dont think the new floor mats have the M Logo on it anymore. FWIW,

But I would pay not to have those damned dealers' frames on the 'plates. I know that I'll just have to drive home, take them off and replace them in the first 2 days. FYI Dealers: when I buy a car I don't want to advertise for you! I want as 'clean' a looking M3 as possible.

I just signed my purchase order and will again pick up my M3 at PCD in Spartanburg SC. I'm in no hurry to get a production number because I'm still going to wait for M-DCT.

I wonder how far Spartansburg is from Deals Gap.
Would be awesome to take your brand new M3 on a little ride through the tail of the dragon.

So it looks like I wont be able to do the PCD afterall so maybe ill just lay down the law and take your advice. I just would prefer not comming off like an ass. the only reason i worry is that it will be the frist M3 at the dealership so obviously there will be some people who want to rev the hell out of it... and do so even if it isn't their car

Have you talked to your dealer to schedule a PCD on you new M3. Tell them you want the opportunity to drive their Test Track, Skid Pad, salom, etc...
It's not too late.
