Ok to use Torco Fuel Accelerator ?
Greetings,
I have conducted a search - but could not find any conclusive info 'good or bad' info when using octane type boosters. My question is this: Can I use Torco or some other type of octane booster ? Here in Oregon during the winter months they add a crap of stuff for reduced emissions during winter (that just sounds weird) anyway, I always get or use Chevron 92 octane. Buuuuut....pretty sure what the ECU sees is something NOT that great on account they add 'oxygen' to reduce smog. I want to find and add a product once a month when doing a fill-ups to help boost octane. And just see if there is an improvement. Also - will doing this damage or hurt my car in anyway ? Any recommendations ? Cheers, Merlin

Dave is correct. I used it for a while and over time my car dropped 50 RWHP due to the plugs going bad.

Ok, thanks guys...glad I asked this question.
And, just this morning I asked the guy at my local Chevron about high-octane gas availability. Honestly I thought he would say something to the effect "nah...ya can't get that around here" Instead he told me there is a Chevron about 15 minutes away that sells ethanol free gas and race gas in either 93 or 95 octane ratings. I will make sure to take pics off this if it is true and post here. Also - what if got some of the 100 octane low-lead Avgas from my airport ? Not all the time, but just half a tank now and then ? Would that be OK ? btw - 100LL is $5.15 per gallon right now. Cheers, Merlin

Torco is probably one of the best fuel addiditives on the market today, but I wouldn't recommend using it every tank as the Manganese (MMT) will leave a buildup on your exhaust tips (likely plugs and O2s also). It's good to run a tank of fuel every so often to clear it out. We always keep a couple of cans for the track in case the race fuel pumps are broken down.

I do not recommend its use on the S65 with its Ion sensing knock control. Spark plugs are critical in this engine and must not be fouled or coated. Lead will also kill your oxygen sensors and plugs in time.
Best way to raise octane is a proper unleaded race fuel.

On the other hand, I've never noticed any issues with the car during or after using Torco. |

Once used, plugs done. I used it for two fills. Then 30 fills later without it, plugs totally caked still. Logged timing and was really interfering and car not hitting timing targets. Plugs were 5k mikes okd

Gentlemen,
Ok, I just confirmed by calling a local Chevron station - they do have ethanol free gasoline. Will this slightly increase performance ? It is still rated at 92 octane, but pure gas. I have done Google searches and there seems to be a consensus that using ethanol free gas will at least will improve MPG. Honestly I don't care about getting better MPG, just wanna see if there is improved performance. As far as Torco, well I get the feeling that people really don't recommend using it because it fouls the plugs. Even just once ? Yikes...Ok, so I guess I won't do that, rats ! I was hoping I could spike the gas with Torco or some type of additive. Cheers, Merlin

It's an additive, not a substitute.
