New square setup for winter
I came across a great deal on a set of VMR V710s in 18x9.5 et22 all around. I will be using these as my winter wheels for now. I have read through countless threads and I still don't know if these will rub. I would like to put the Blizzak WS80 on these wheels and they come in the following sizes:
225/40R18 92H 225/45R18 95H 225/50R18 95T 225/55R18 98H 225/60R18 100H 235/50R18 101H 245/40R18 97H 245/50R18 104H 255/35R18 90H Anybody have any recommendations on which tires to get with the 18x9.5 et22 wheels? I would like to not have to use spacers if at all possible. Thanks in advance everyone! |

I think the 245/40/18 or 255/35/18 would be best given those options. Anything narrower and the tires will be really stretched and some of those tires are probably to narrow per the manufacture's specification for a 9.5" wheel. Even a 245 will be stretched but the 255/35/18 might be kind of small height wise. 245/50/18 is almost guaranteed to rub a lot since its too tall. Personally I would just sell the wheels and get something a little narrower like an 8-8.5" and go for 245/40/18. That is what I run on 8" wheels and it works well for snow tires.

Thanks for the thorough response! I am leaning towards the 255/35/18 so that the tires aren't stretched. The sidewall height doesn't concern me too much. I would buy a thinner wheel but the deal I'm getting on these wheels are too good to pass up and I have every intention of transitioning them to a summer setup at some point.
My other concern is whether or not the 9.5 et22 all around will make the front too aggressive and might look weird. Any thoughts on that? |
