Stock 220s On Winters handle Better than HREs on PS2s

So I just switched from my summers HRE P40 9" 255/35 front 10.5" 295/30 Rear

To my Winters Stock 220 so 8.5 Front 255/35 9.5 Rear 265/35

And the winters just feel so much better. Steering is lighter and sharper, car seems to handle better.

What gives? My PS2s were rather worn, but I feel as though the added width of the rears must have somehow disrupted the balance of the steering and handling.

ive always found the opposite on my winters on 220s, with F 245/35 and R 265/35, traction control light comes on too easily and back end can go much easier.

I prefer the feel of the car on stock size tires over upsized. I notice a difference, it's definitely sharper.

Haha I have pretty much the same combo. I will have to swap out the winters soon and see.

It could be that you have 255 & 295 in the summer. I think keeping the same ratio as the OEM will be more suitable so trying going 275 & 295, 265 & 285 or if possible go with a square setup for the summer. Also remember reading how 295 does affect the balance of the car but I can't seem to find the the post.

I'm currently running blizzaks 265 square setup and it's extremely composed. Also the traction control rarely comes on which I'm surprised since the 265 is a wide tire for winter.

This is my setup with the 220m. Never had traction control kick in.
