Passport Max
Have been thinking for a while on installing the Passport 9500ci for the clean install, performance, etc. (but live in Colorado and Laser Jammers are illegal, so held off). Now for ease of using in multiple cars and good "non-laser jamming" performance, considering new Passport Max. Not as clean an install with the windshield mount, but...
Any input? Thx.

The max is a pretty darn good detector. However, it is not all it is claimed to be. Escort's own Redline and the Valentine 1 are more sensitive when set up correctly. But the max has GPS lockouts which for some people will help quiet the detector down, i.e. less false alerts. Beware, that, especially in K band, the auto-learn GPS feature can mistakenly lock out real cop alerts. Escort is still trying to keep up with early demand right now so it may be a couple or three weeks before you get one. The RL and V1 will come a bit more quickly.
Another choice is the Beltronics STi-R+. It is a remote mount detector, basically a 9500ci without the laser jammer -- Escort owns Beltronics so they really are the same. It is, however, a better detector since it's software allows you to tailor the settings more and give it better performance. Radardetectorforum.org is a good source to learn about these things. Cheers.
