Beware: Do Not Buy From Bmw Of Mountain View
Just a warning to members, BMW of Mountain View and their GM Huck are completely full of themselves. They will not sell a car knowing it is going out of state! I was looking at a car for a friend and they said no deal because they want the car to stay local. The attitude I got from the CA was like they were better than me. Exactly what you DONT WANT from a cocky car salesman.
end rant.

I live right near there and that dealer is pretty whack. I did get the sales lady to negotiate pretty low over invoice which was good. But then they didn't have allocation.
Also their service department scratched my tint while fixing the battery cable recall. 4 hours wasted of my time and all I get is a refund of the cost months later....fers. |

Update! Bmw Of Mt. View Has Bad Business Practices!
UPDATE!!
Gave BMW of MT. View a $5,000 DEPOSIT to HOLD the car yesterday. They finally were willing to sell the car to my friend. Fast forward to today.... I call the CA to tell him we didn't want to get the extended warranty because I could get it cheaper from another dealer. He tells me nonchalantly "oh... we sold the car last night" If I was there till 5pm how the f*ck did they sell the car?!?!?!? BEWARE... They are a$$holes and only care about making money. end rant.

I would never buy a car in California. Who would? Tax out the ass and the folks that sell them suck ass. I buy out of state in Washington or Oregon and pay no tax. F California.

You pay your local resident sales tax regardless of where you buy your car. CA residents pay CA taxes for a car purchased out of state. I'm buying a car from a CA dealer and will be assessed NY sales tax based on my residence being in NY.

Look I am here to debate what I know. I just said that state to state tax varies and California is one of the highest in the country. Fact and not debatable. Anyway I have better things to do than argue on the net. Back to the OP.. Bump. Last edited by Endless619; 05-19-2013 at 07:09 PM.. |

had a similar experience. Go to Stevens Creek (yes it might be bigger, but have had good luck). See Gordon the internet guy, reallllllyyyy fair. In fact, bought a used E90 (2008 and out of warranty) from him. About 1 mo after purchase I noticed a crease in my bumper (pics on this forum). He got it fixed free of charge, just to make sure I was happy.
PM me if anyone has questions.

based what I read, it sounded like they already had a interested buyer with a pretty good offer. They knew if your friend was out-of-state, it'll take a few days to close the deal, and anything could have made the deal fall through.
They should have just told you they had an offer and that you friend was on-deck to save you the drama. |

If a dealer has a choice of a local buyer vs a out of state buyer all things being equal they want the local deal. The likelyhood of service business, repeat and referral business is much much higher.

Try Brett or Scott at Sonnen in Marin, they'll give it to you straight. I ordered mine through them and they were a pleasure to work with. It's a bit farther for you but worth a shot, I think they have a couple M3s left.

I never ever considered buying my m3 through them. The sales people didn't know much and weren't interested in competitive pricing. No allocations, lazy.
Two emails to STBMW and I had my customized m3 ordered. World of difference!

I hope you realize how lucky you are. I was just too late to get the last of ST allocation so had to deal with all the slimy tricks of another dealer, and of course am paying $1500 over ST min.
