>>I'm officially a Dragon Slayer! Pics inside<<
Guess what I did 3 weekends ago? 1500 miles over 26hrs in the pursuit of the best driving road on the east coast and...its done.
It began on Friday @ noon where I drove from Baltimore to Fairfax to rendeavous with my bud and his SSII E92 M3. From there we embarked on a LONG 7 hr drive straight to Asheville, NC where we encountered some stunning scenic highways and major roads. We hit Asheville's nightlife scene Friday night but couldn't stay out too late considering the crazy drive we had ahead of us on Saturday. Sat-we quickly grab breakfast and fuel up for what promises to be an epic drive. Here are some shots that day: @4000 ft above the Tennessee mountains Valley- [/IMG] Gatlinburg: Tail of the Dragon shots [IMG][/IMG]
After 13.5hrs of pure driving with only 2 thirty minute stops for snack + lunch, we drove threw some of the most captivating roads in the US with the icing being the Rt. 129/Dragon which is a glowing ribbon of asphalt with insane drops and tight turns. This was one hell of a trip through 4 states in the course of 2 days with 26hrs of driving involved. All in all, this was one for the books. Back home in VA with the badge of honor: |

I use to live with-in 1 hour of the Rt. 129... Great Road. Next time you go, let me know and I will point you to some even better roads with no traffic in that area. Also, if Killboy was out taking pictures, check Killboy.com to see if he got a moving shot of your cars!
Nice pictures! Looks like you went to Cades Cove as well... |

If anyone wants to do a similar loop, feel free to contact me, i kind of know the area like the inside of my hand. spend a long time planning since we had one day to complete a very slow loop.
I really wanted to do this since i moved and drove to FL the following weekend, it was my last chance to drive in the smoky hills. we ended up on closed roads and road that are in bad conditions. if you have a buddy to drive down, you should definitely do it. we looked at killboy pictures and there was another group taking pics as well but they are just ridiculously expensive so didnt get any.
