Cantrell Motorsports Ducts / Stock Brakes
I just had a Cantrell Motorsports brake duct kit installed on my 2010 e90 M3 with stock brakes. Griffin Motorwerke in Berkley did the work and took some great pics:
No info on how the kit works yet. I won't have it to the track until next weekend. |

Very nice. I'll be interested in your assessment at the track. What sort of brake issues did you experience in the past that prompted this upgrade?

Unfortunately I won't have a point of comparison with a specific brake problem. No track time pre-upgrade. I just got the car and was adding Pagids and SS lines. Decided to do the ducting at the same time.

I have the same kit and it's very well made. The tires rubbing against the ducting at full lock has been an issue reported by many. Cantrell actually updated their recommended duct routing and did it on my car last week. It involves routing it under the lower control arm, changing the section locally to an oblong shape and securing it with zip-ties.
I would be really surprised if you don't rub with a non secured duct routing as you have it on the pics. Cheers

Hmm... I haven't tried going full lock to lock. So far just normal driving and no issues. I'll try out with the wheel fully turned and let you know.

I finally got out to the track last weekend. I was slamming the brakes pretty hard. No problems with fade at all. I'm really impressed with how they held up.
Since this was my first time at the track with the car I can't really say how much the ducting helped. Anyone else have experience with Pagid RS19's and stock rotors at the track? Any fade? It does rub a little, but only on one side and only when the wheel is all the way to the lock. Strange that it doesn't happen on the other side. I'll have to take a look and see why. |
