+1, but one of the 13 reasons why OP might not be too concerned about the encounter is he was probably packing a piece himself. Either that, or he is packing a 13 incher. Don't know which one is scarier.

Yea normally I would ignore him but didn't in this case. Drove across the us in it few weeks ago and let the hot heads go. Knew he was a soldier as am I and yes wife and I carry as we heard horror stories about El Paso but so far not as bad as people make it out but then again after driving in Baghdad and Kandahar I guess it would be that bad lol. I was more worried in DC area then here. But thanks for the concern.

Summary:
I randomly got in a street race with a camaro and put myself, my wife, and every one around me at risk ... but I WON P.S. My wife and I both carry guns so we're invincible! |

I think the OP had the situation under control. Nothing is without risk and risk mitigation is what us military guys do best. If some jack ass cut me off for no reason I would probably find a way to retaliate. For example, if some old fart in a leased 328 equipped with the status package follows me and high beams me continuously I would pull him out and beat his face with his own car. Inside joke....

No wonder M3 drivers tend to be called "douches". Thanks for that.

What cracks me up is the people on here that are quick to call people out like there holier than thou and never speed or do anything questionable.

I just slowed down and parked behind the tropper. End of the stupidity. The bad news is that I never got a chance of getting the license plate of the 335i as he just kept going after me stopping, obviously. But at least I told the trooper to tell his guys down the highway to be on the look out for a white 335i being a mofo. Confrontation in the street/road/highway is no joke and nothing to brag about. |

Not saying I agree with the OP (I mostly do), but why have a high performance car if you never drive aggressively. If you think the odds are against you to say a smarmy comment to an aggressive driver at a stop light, you have a very dim view of humanity.
If you live life to totally avoid risk, you aren't really living.

On the other hand, a spur of the moment short stop light drag, or backroad sprint on your own can be spontaneous fun that can be had briefly in the midst of everyday life. Just make sure road, weather and traffic conditions permit. I personally only have the opportunity to make it to a track maybe once or twice a year between all my various other commitments. Even all the comparison tests of street cars on a track, while fun to watch, have no bearing on the real world usability of the car. Reviewers talk as is we all have a track in our back yard that we can just drive on every day.

If others want to kill themselves via road rage or racing, so be it. Darwin gets his due. All to often though, the settlement of hubris takes the innocent with it. Just my two cents. I have an performance car, but don't feel compelled to unleash some type of irrelevant rage at whim.

For all of you squares who criticize and say "no wonder M3 drivers have a bad rep" are truly ridiculous. Who really cares how you are perceived by the car you drive. If you care about someone's opinion of you that is determined by the reputation of the vehicle you drive, you are a tool.
Evaluation is only as important as the evaluator is to you.
