Customer Build: E92 M3 - Challenge, Eisenmann, Voltex, HRE, Alcon, Recaro, and more!
One of our good customers that recently made a switch from an C63 AMG to the E92 M3 has caught the mod bug and is now learning to drive his M3 on track and is increasing his mods as he goes along and improves his driving skill. Where the AMG had brute force torque and power, the M3 has a refined powerplant and responsive chassis making it a better overall performer even with the absence of some low end torque. ( The lack of torque will be addressed shortly I hear )
Starting with a bone stock 2010 DCT M3 our customer started off adding the essential Challenge Race X pipe combined with an Eisenmann Sport muffler with Challenge connecting pipes. To get the brakes ready for street and track driving we added an Alcon Super Kit, Big Brake Kit. Soon after, we installed the BMW performance carbon front splitters and trunk lip spoiler along with Eibach lowering springs to give the car an aggressive yet streetable stance. Fast forward a few months into the summer, the second stage of the build commenced. Our customer wanted to make the M3 a more track focused. He had a set of Bilstein coilovers swapped in replacing the oem shocks and eibach springs and added some HRE monoblock wheels wrapped in sticky Advan AD08 tires. Once back in our hands the bumper was refreshed with side markers being shaved and the bumper repainted to new to shed previous stone chips from street and track driving. Gone were the OEM carbon splitters and spoiler replaced with a Challenge GT Carbon Lip Spoiler and a Voltex Type1S carbon GT wing to contribute some downforce to this weekend warrior. Moving to the inside, the customer installed a BMW performance Alcantera steering wheel to add a nice race car touch. Keeping with the dual use theme We installed a set of Recaro Sportster CS Leather buckets. With an OEM-like finish and aggressive bolstering its one of the best fit seats in the M3. Since these seats sit particularly low in the M3 and our customer wasn't the usual tall guy looking for as much head room as possible we set out to find the optimal seating position for our client. In order to get him the right height we hit the machine shop and cranked out 2 sets of custom billet seat spacers to give the driver the view he wanted. A second taller set was made as a revision to get it just right. We decided to mill some pockets in the side of this taller spacers to shed some weight. Next a Macht Schnell Pod with Stack gauges went in to keep an eye on oil pressure, trans and water temps. With having a DCT, the trans can get hot especially if you add a super charger.... Keep an eye on this Jet Black M3 as she is sure to keep evolving! Last edited by GTM_Challenge; 08-07-2012 at 11:42 AM.. |

Would love to actually see one these AT the track. Not saying it won't, but I rarely see any E9x M's at the track period, let alone the fully track prepped ones. I just want someone to play with, sick of the vettes and vipers and stangs that litter the midwest track events. Car looks MEAN Aug. 20th, Autobahn CC anyone???
