Front tire help needed (TE37SL). Need to buy tires ASAP
Hey guys,
I need some help regarding what front tire size. I searched a lot, but not many people run 18x9.5 et15 front wheels. My FRONT wheels are 18x9.5 et15, so they are aggressive. I was wondering what tire sizes would be best on them. I don't want them to be stretched, but I don't want them to rub (I'm lowered on RD springs). I already have my rear tires narrowed down (285/35/18 on 18x10.5 et20 wheels), I just need help on the fronts. The tires will have a somewhat rounded sidewall (they won't be as square as hankook r-s3's, ad08's, or re-11's). Sizes to pick from: 245/40/18 - stock size 255/40/18 - 0.3 inches taller, would it still fit up front with no rub? 265/35/18 - 0.4 inches shorter, but wider, I'd ideally want these if they'd fit because they are the same amount shorter than stock, which matches the size differences in my new rear tires (285/35/18) vs stock (265/40/18) Thanks, Matt

What tires are you looking to go with?
Although i'm not lowered, I was running 295/35/18 in the rear and 265/35/18 in the front on PS2. There was loads of room in the front, no rubbing ever, so I don't think you would have a problem with going 265/35/18. I think it will ultimately come down to the kind of sidewall on the tires you're going to run. 285/35/18 will be perfect in the rear, don't see that being a problem. |

I toyed with the whole winter tire thing, but for my uses I don't need that much snow performance (i won't be driving in snow, just on cold roads). And with these wheels I'll be driving in weather between 20-60 degrees and mostly 40-60 degrees during the fall and spring, so the DWS's work better for me. are your fronts et15? If so, do you think the 265/35/18 DWS's will fit on a lowered car (it won't be slammed like a coil over setup, but it will be ~1.4 inches lower)?

well I'm mostly worried about the fender because I have 255/35/18 Hankook R-S3's on there now, and they look like they are about to rub (I'm not lowered yet, but I'm installing my RD springs this weekend). Do you that the square nature of the hankooks will make up the difference from 255 to 265 though?

I run 18x9.5 12 offset up front with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I'm lowered and it barely rubs. Nothing a little dremel can't fix. With 15 it'll be close but will depend on what tire you go with. I find the michelins have a rounder side wall.

I'm choosing between them, Pirelli P zero nero all season, bridgestone potenza re970as, and Michelin pilot sport a/s plus. I haven't fully decided yet though.

I'm going to be putting pictures up this weekend after I get my springs and exhaust installed on Friday. Everything else is already on though.

I'd shoot for a 265/35/18 size, but be prepared to adjust camber. We typically increase camber when using anything more aggressive than a 9.5 +19 width and offset.

i have 18x9.5et22 265/35/18 RS3
-2.5 camber up front I have room, I can even do a full lock turn... but I have very very little room. very little. I want to measure it but don't know how.. but I also have an e93, which, from my personal experiences, has less clearance than e90/e92 People say I'm crazy, but I've done quite a few different wheel/tire combos on my e93 M3 and my previous e93 335... e93s have less clearance. So you should be fine with a 265/35/18. What are your alignment specs up front?

I just want to be able to run 265/35/18's up front without any issues of rubbing or having to adjust camber to get it to fit, and if any of those two things occur, I rather get a smaller size tire and not have problems. As I said above, I have 255/35/18 Hankook R-S3's on my car right now with no problems, but I don't really want to run that because the OD of the tires is much smaller than stock sizes (0.69 inches shorter). What do you think I should do? Oh and I have whatever stock alignment specs are.

hey guys,
I just went with 255/40/18 fronts and 285/35/18 rears, just to be safe. The OD and sidewall height of the two tires are within 0.1 inches of each other which is awesome. I just didn't want to deal with the hassle of the 265/35's rubbing. thanks for all the advise

Sorry guys for bumping another old thread. But I'm considering the same setup as you. 255/40/18 tire on a 18x9.5 et15 offset. I plan on lowering my car to a similar height as the RD springs. What brand tire did you get? Got any pics of your setup?
Thanks!

For pics search my name on threads I created. I went with pirelli pzero nero all season because these are my late fall/winter/early spring wheels and couldn't do winter tires because it is too warm in the fall and early spring for them. I have a dedicated summer setup for when it's warm
