OFFICIAL Waiting on BMW to Give Us the Option We Paid for Back!
***IF YOU HAVE 6NR (BMW APPS/CONNECTED DRIVE) AS AN OPTION ON YOUR CAR, DO NOT LET THE DEALER UPDATE YOUR CAR'S SOFTWARE!
It is well known now that the most recent BMW software update will completely erase this $250 factory installed option from your car. If your car is in service and requires any "programming" or "coding" of any sort (even if its not for the purpose of the software update) the software update will automatically be done and you will lose 6NR. Im very disappointed with BMW (probably for the first time ever), as its almost unprecedented for them to be able to take a factory installed option that customers have paid for or are currently paying for in their monthly payments away from them. I know almost no one on m3post cares much for $250 dollars or the 5 bucks it adds to their payments but i think the principle of the matter is absolutely wrong. Furthermore, this update has been around for long enough for BMW to fix a simple software glitch and yet we have no solution (as far as i know). If anyone has made any progress on this issue or actually received another update to fix the issue, please chime in. I dont have much faith in any of the genius SA's to get a solution before members here figure it out. Some reference: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=590463 |

I responded on your other thread regarding this. Patry said that if your car came with the 6NR option that the dealer should be able to recode it just fine.
I was trying to figure out what was going on in that other thread so correct me if I'm wrong. |

I believe that the software update converts 6NR to be "FSC code" enabled app like Sat Radio. As soon as the dealer applies the FSC codes for BMW apps it will show up again. This is probably a deterrent so that folks don't get a free activation of 6NR without paying for the product. Until recently it was easy to enable 6NR via coding on cars that were produced 3/11 or greater with iDrive.

This is a dealer issue not so much a BMW issue. The dealer is not reading carefully the OEM bulletin in reference to the software update and 6NR: they are just updating cars and after disabling the 6NR then not admitting any fault of their own. They need to request the new 6NR FSC for the particular vehicle before the update and then follow the loading of such FSC. |

Did you get the wonderful option that won't let you put the car in drive unless your seatblelt is fastened now?

Can you "fix" that?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Thanks for the information. This is why I love this forum. I have no doubt my dealer would do just this.

Not sure. I haven't had the need to....yet. I'm 98% certain that it can be disabled via coding.
