Replacement steering wheel roundel?
I just got a CPO 2008 M3 coupe. The steering wheel roundel is pretty bad. I tried calling the dealer to see if they would replace it but no luck. I have heard that stick on replacements are available. Where can I find these?

I found this out the hard way, the only way to replace it, is to replace the entire airbag. That roundel, unlike the rest on the car, has 3 prongs that goes into the airbag housing and are bent and rivetted into place.
Think I got my cover from jlevisw.

+1 We do not recommend removing the stock one as it could damage the airbag. Our steering wheel roundels are very thin with adhesive on the back that is applied directly on top of the existing roundel.

This thing can't cost more than a tank of gas. Just have the dealer replace it when you get your next oil change. I'm sure your airbag will be fine. I would avoid the DIY sticker fix.

The sticker is thin and you can't tell it's there you're not suppose to remove the original one..unless you want to change the airbag too..

Got mine replaced by the dealer for my E46 a few years ago and the entire airbag assembly needed to be replaced just because of the roundel....far from the cost of a tank of gas.

Lol....I never touch mine. There's was a defect in the finish. Was very minor but figure since it was under warranty that I bring it up. It wasn't until after the repair was done that I realized they had replace the entire airbag. I was floored that was over $1000!

I decided to go this route vs stickers, because most sticker kits are only wedges that cover the pie areas, which leaves the rest of the roundel succeptible to the fading from time, cleaning...etc. The stick on cover is inexpensive enough to just swap it out as needed.

I did every mod on my car myself too...front lip, rear spoiler, angel eyes, spacers, grills and gills and reflector, interior LED's...everything...turned out better than I had hoped. Then I go an make a stupid mistake with the steering wheel roundel

Oh no, not the stickers, the roundel itself. I noticed this starting on my E46 M before I sold it. The stickers actually protected the area they were covering, it was the rest of the roundel...like the gold outer ring...that started showing blemishes.

Mine wore out when the car was a few months old. It was obviously a manufactureing defect. I bought a stick on replacement and it looks fine, It completely covers the original and it it looks like it came from the factory. IMO warranty or not it is rather pointless to replace the entire air bag assembly when there is such a simple and inexpensive solution.

Damn, I didn't know the whole airbag would need to be replaced if you swap the roundel. That's intense.
Sticker is looking like the best option. I would hope they would do it under warranty though...

Dealership scratched my roundel when putting in the performance steering wheel, so I had them replace it. Unfortunately, this one is a little off axis and looks crooked.
