anyone know if this is the gintani sport or race exhaust??
Planning on going from a stock exhaust to a gintani race but having some drawbacks after reading the numerous threads about some loving it after a few weeks and others killing themselves over the drone. I'm not much of a guy to think while I'm driving at low rpms (suburban areas) but more on the highway cruising at 60+ so drone might not be a problem. However, 90% of the time I'm listening to music (usually pretty loud) and the M3 has been my first car to make me actually turn of the music once in a while to simply listen to the engine (stock) If this is the race system, I don't see where the drone comes into place. If anything its barely there and your getting an amazing sound out of it. If this is the sport version... the race might just be to much! What's a fellow to do? |

I have the hybrid Gintani exhaust with the Gintani catless x-pipe and I love it. Its only loud when you put your foot into it. Its a mixture of the sport and race, I just had some idiot bump into my drivers side rear end and the exhaust tip has a slight scuff that will most likely come off however, I haven't tried to remove it yet because I am making a claim against the lady's insurance to have the entire rear section replaced because you can't remove the tips. I get nothing but compliments from everyone when they hear it but I really want to get the race exhaust to see what the difference is. I will most likely sell the hybrid if everything works out, I'm keeping my fingers crossed so that I can get the insurance money to purchase the race exhaust. Gintani by far has the best exhaust sound on the market today IMO.

Forgot to mention that downshifting with the catless, race or hybrid set up will make you and others cream their pants. It sounds like a V8 should and makes muscle cars with after market exhaust systems sound like they were purchased at Pep Boys.
