Gas Pedal Difference
I bought a set of pedals from a member here on the forums and have found out the hard way that the gas pedal assembly has been completely revised in my 2011 MY M3.
![]() Anyways, here are some pictures of the differences:

BMW didn't have a pedal set for the M3 as far as I can tell. At least not in their catalog for my 2010 M3 Coupe. Looking in the catalog I do see a set for E92 non-M coupes. My guess is that is what you have and people are modifying them for the M3.

can anyone with a 2010 confirm? I want to order some aftermarket pedal covers for my '11 and want to make sure they are the right size. These are the ones I want
btw, it looks like the gas pedal on this one matches your '11 pedal. I think perhaps your new gas pedal is for non M e9x car?? |

I've considering buying the BMW Performance pedals (the one with the complete accelerator replacement as the left side pedal is above) as well for my '11 DCT. But I read somewhere here that they don't fit.
OP, is your car DCT or manual? Is the set you purchased for manual or DCT? I'm wondering if the '11 pedals are the same (or at least share the smaller form factor of the mounting plate area). I feel the "kick-down" detent on mine, but I don't know if manual cars have this or not. |

I believe he made some minor modifications (painted the M black) and there was some drilling involved for the install.

In the OP pics, my DCT came with the pedal on the left. Brake and foot rest are the same style. Is it a model year difference or is it a DCT/6MT difference?

I have a 6MT.
I bought these from a member on the forum who has a MY2008 M3 (6MT). IMO, these are the best looking OEM pedals for the M3. My guess that it is a MY difference. I'm noticing more and more minute differences in the LCI M3.

I'm pretty sure it's a MY difference. That's how my performance pedals look on my 6MT 2008 M3, and they fit me just fine. The pedal on the right looks like nothing I've ever dealt with during removal or installation of my performance pedals set, stock or otherwise.
Damn, guess I'm selling my performance pedals too. I was considering keeping them for my next M3, but guess not. Damn it BMW! I really liked those! |

![]() OT: Does someone with a pre-LCI 6MT want to buy these off me since they obviously don't fit my car?

Now that I actually looked closer does the pedal on the right have a DCT kickdown switch?

MY2011 are different. I had the BMW performance pedals in my '08 M3 but they are not compatible for the 2011s. I went with a 3D design aftermarket cover set.
It may be my imagination but I do think that my 2011 does a better job at kickdown than my '08 (both DCT). Another reason to go with covers. |

Here is the pedal part number progression...
6MT... 35 42 6 772 646 to 07/2008 35 42 6 786 286 to 09/2008 35 42 6 788 633 to 05/2009 35 42 6 789 999 current DCT... 35 42 6 772 645 to 07/2008 35 42 6 786 285 to 09/2008 35 42 6 788 632 to 05/2009 35 42 6 789 998 current I checked a MY2011 VIN (E367504) and according to the Penske parts catalog it shows the same numbers as those marked "current". If this is right MY2010 and 2011 should be the same. ??? This is for E92 but E90 seems to be the same. On the left pedal above I can see the part number 35 42 6 789 181 but I can't find that number probably because it is part of a set and not individually sourced.

Good info - thanks for taking the time to post your findings (and part numbers) so we all can learn.
