Side mirror acting weird. FRM?
So my driver side mirror has been acting weird suddenly. Every time I adjust my seat, the mirror will tilt down until all I see is road. I have to manually adjust the side mirror every time.
Is this a sign that the FRM is dying? If yes, do I need to replace with exact same part number or I can just get any used E9x FRM and then code it to my car? My car is 2010 E92 M3. |

Probably not the same but in the non e9x the electrical connectors in the mirrors get corrected. It causes the mirrors to do random things, like changing positions randomly or everything you get in the car the mirrors point down, ect...

Sounds like it thinks you're putting the car in reverse with the auto dip feature. I'd take the mirror cap off and check the connections and integrity of the wires before looking at replacements. The e9x mirrors tend to collect dirt which can cause random issues.

My 2010 M3 did the same thing. That was 6 years ago. I found,.......Fixing the phantom auto misadjusting side mirror position - TSB 513608
It seems connectors in the mirror motor housing are prone to corrosion so you need to clean them. I followed the DIY and no longer have the driver side mirror tilting down by itself. The mirror is working as it should. |

Both of me E92s have done this. Easy fix.
After you clean them make sure to load the connectors up with dielectric grease. You'll never have the problem again.
