Aluminum expansion tank?

Anyone tried the Moroso aluminum expansion tank for our M’s?

Never seen that part. Looks cool! However I've never had any issue even on track so I'm not sure what purpose it serves other than under hood bling?

I'd like to see it on an actual car, I know for 335i the expansion tank is known to leak and rupture at the seams because it is plastic. Turner has a replacement one for $600.

Not sure how these plastic expansion tanks hold up over time.

BMW cooling systems have always been an issue peaking with the E46. The expansion tank was next to the hot side on the radiator. Top it off with a trans cooler then you get expansion tank exploding after 60k miles. The plastic doesn’t hold up.

Not so much of an issue for the M cars since the tanks are away from other gear sources. The only benefit I can think of is the aluminum is an extra heat sink so you might get some added cooling.

I currently have one sitting in my BimmerWorld shopping cart (along with 5k worth of other parts )

@reidetailing In a FaceBook group im part of called "E9X Track and Road Course Discussion" there was a pretty good thread on steering reservoirs and several people seemed to call this the Moroso/Bimmerworld tank the "permanent solution" and well worth it.

Just added it to my track car. Took a good bit more coolant than factory. Will report back if I have any issues at my 3 day barber event next week.

10 sessions this last weekend no issues. Filled the water up to the middle of the sightglass. Temps were high 60’s low 70’s but only saw 197-198 water temps.
