Magnaflow 35125 Stainless Tiips

Hey Guys,

I recently bought these tips for the OEM exhaust mod. However, I want the ability to adjust the tips so I bought some exhaust clamps. Would these work or do I have to get them welded on?

You are not going to be able to clamp these on. The tips you got are 4.5 inches long which might be okay for an e90, but that is not the issue. I got the same tips, but the 7.5 inch ones (35123). They need to be spot welded together to keep them from being pushed away from each other due to the 3.5 inch outlet size. These look awesome, but require some work to fit them properly. Definitely not a bolt on option.

Can also confirm with the 35125 (for sedan) that clamps will not be sufficient for the tips to line up straight (length wise, front to back). The tips are welded onto the stock pipes and then welded together in the middle (in between). This is due to their size/diameter, as they are significantly larger than stock. Make sure that they're not sticking out too much, as they'll look too cheap/blatantly aftermarket.

So it would make sense to weld them while the exhaust is on the car correct?

Yes, because you/your shop needs to line them up correctly. I believe my shop somewhat dropped the muffler/box so there is room to weld. Things get lined up (while on the exhaust), clamped together then welded. The idea with the clamp is you can make adjustments, i.e. how far they come out, how much stagger for inner+outer tips, re-clamp (which holds them in their final resting place) and weld in place.
