Interlagos question
OK, not to start a color war here, but I need some help.
I'm working on a deal for a 08 e90 with MT/Premium/19's/Sat/Ipod/Moonroof/Blacklines, for $55660 Lease 36mo/12k around 685 a month with a 2500 trade-in, and "startups". Leasing for the business benefits. Interlagos/Beige interior. Here's the problem . . .wife thinks the color is too "pimp". Is the deal good enough to put up with the wife feeling like she's ridin in the hood, or can she be convinced it's a great color. OK, it's not my first choice, but the deal is there, and the price wont break the bank. A little help from the board would be appreciated. |

That is a very good deal. However, if you have the slightest hesitation about the color you are getting, I wouldn't go through with it then.
Wait and check out one of the new Le Mans blue M3s in '09, or find a different e90 and try to get a similar deal. .02

That price seems pretty darn good. What is invoice price on the car? And what is Blue-Book on your trade?
I don't even begin to understand how Interlagos = pimp though. I don't know what your wife means by that. Lots of blue cars out there - blue is very popular these days. Personally I'd take more objection to the Beige interior. Sounds like your wife is a little self conscious? Interlagos will definitely bring more attention than black or gray. If you don't take the car, let me know. I may try to convince my wife to trade her Montego 335i for it. |

Based on your reference to "pimp," it sounds like you and/or your wife are somewhat put off by the purplish tint to Interlagos in direct sun light. You either love it or hate it. I liked it so much, I changed my order to Interlagos on the spot.
Also, the beige interior, which is brighter, accents the "pimp" aspect of Interlagos, rather than toning it down like a black interior would. It's kind of like a pimp wearing a purple suit with a beige fur coat. It's a little more outrageous than a pimp in a purple suit with a black overcoat. The thing is, if it's not your first choice and your wife really doesn't like it, Interlagos is not going to eventually become your favorite color. You may be okay with it, and your wife may get used to it, but you'll probably never love it. In that situation, my suggestion would be to only get this car if it's the difference between having an M3 and not having one. In other words, if this particular car is the only way you'll be able to get into an M3 (which I doubt), then get it. Otherwise, keep looking and avoid a wicked case of buyer's remorse. Paying a little bit more for the color combo you really want will be worth it.

IB is a fantastic color. Would hardly call it pimp, but like others have said, that is very subjective. Its going to be your car, right? Wife won't have to drive it...

Pimp Dog
"g-block the pimp" has a nice ring to it.
Seriously, I'd go with a traditional color (red, black, space gray) if you think you might regret it later. Be safe and sure or be prepared to issue $$$$ to get it repainted. |

Sounds like there is hesitation. You're paying good money for a great car. Make sure it's what you want (presuming you're going to keep it for awhile and not look to trade in for a new one in say, 3 years). Don't want buyer's remorse on something like color, it will hop out at you everytime you see it.
Since we're on the subject of colors, an add-on question: I really like the Graphite Gray Metallic but for some reason, it discontinued for MY '09. Considering Space Gray, but noted the Le Mans Blue Metallic. How does it compare to Interlagos, darker? Anyone have a good picture of the Le Mans Blue? Thanks... |

Sshhhhh...keep it on the DL. We don't need IB becoming too popular, like AW.

If you're not sure about the IB, don't get it. I was hesitant when I ordered my car, but now I love the color, and I get tons of compliments.

I hope to get the pics up by Saturday night -- by then it'll have the clear bra, tint, clear reflectors, and aluminum pedals.

MSRP was 61495.
You know, personally I've seen some IB M5's around here and I love them. I think the color is great, but not sure that I like it better than the Sparkling Graphite. The SG they have here is loaded, and they just arent giving me the same deal on it. Funny though, she LOVES the interior, and when she sees the color in the shade, whoich brings out some of the darker tones, she thinks the color is awesome. I just think she wants something more like monaco blue. Meh. Thanks for all the responses. We'll keep yall posted!! |

Sounds like you're leaning in favor of the SG, if you can afford it, get it. Give the dealer your target price on the SG, and tell them to call you if and when they're ready to do the deal. If they will before 10/31, get the SG. Otherwise, get the IB.

Saw an IB m3 on the road and was blown away with how good it looked. I thought it was stunning and very classy actually. I would never associate that color with the 'hood'.

go with what you prefer. As others have pointed out, it's subjective. Definitely do not purchase a vehicle based on price alone. Choose the whole package as you will have it for 3 yrs.
