help with power steering

so about 3 months back, my deflection pulley went bad, it broke off and ripped the p/s and a/c belt. i replaced it and use a new belt. couple days back i was 'ripping it' shredding tires and such bc the car is about to be widebody so i thought, why not just shred these tires bc im going for 20' wheels. after all the fun, i noticed that when i try to turn the steering wheel all the way left or right, my steering wheel actually jerks back a couple times and gives off a weird smell, i cant really describe the smell but it smells like burnt smell. the car turns fine, it just that when i try to turn the steering wheel all the way, it just jerks back and im really worried
