Rusty trans filter???

I got this trans filter bolt from ECS, and it has a line of rust along the length of where the mesh is connected.

I'm thinking it's not okay to install this... I don't want rust in my trans fluid... Wtf.

Anyone else experience this??

Returning it to ECS, waiting for exchanged part to arrive.

Looks like it was seam welded and that's the heat on it. I wonder if the new one looks any different

It's brazing and flux from sealing the seam of the filter. Nothing wrong with it, no reason to return it. If you're paranoid over it, just clean the flux off with a steel brush.
