Tab sheered on Rear Control arm
All,
so went to get an alignment and the technician noticed the tab on the rear control arm is sheared, stated he couldn't do a proper alignment without it....i guess? What do you guys think? It's highlighted in the attached picture... Do i have to get this replaced for a proper alignment?

That lobe is how the camber arm secures to the subframe. Alignment aside, it is dangerous if you cannot properly bolt the camber arm which carrys the weight of the car to the subframe. Your camber is also set by the eccentric bolt that goes through it so it follows that you couldn't possibly align correctly if its sheared.
Source a used one if looking for a cheaper replacement. Last edited by M43S7RO; 04-08-2020 at 08:16 PM.. |

If you're talking about the raised protrusions, I believe that's to keep the eccentric camber nut from spinning. If it spins then you can't adjust camber.
