M3 purchase advice
Hey guys,
Been looking to get back into an M3 for a while. I am currently looking at one that isn't local and needed some advice. The carfax has an absence of records for about 4 years, see pictures. There is nothing reported from 2010 to 2014. The 2nd caveat is the short ownership time of the 2nd and 3rd owners. 2nd being 4 months and 3rd about a year. Seller sent me a video here: The caution light on is for washer fluid I have another video showing that on the idrive. What do you think based on the video and history? Also what is a reputable company for a PPI? I don't know how I can trust any mechanics local to where the car is now. |

Best advice you can get is to go check the car out in person and have it inspected if its a good candidate

Why not wait till one comes up locally. Or find one with your options that doesn't have multiple short term owners or a lax in reporting. Short term ownership or more than 2/3 owners is a red flag. If your buying an m3, don't be stingy.. typically you get what you pay for.. search the forums for cars for sale, cars here are typically very transparent.

If the BMW dealer does one then jsut go there if you don't trust any of the shops. Other than that I can't recommend any shops as I live on the west coast

Regarding your concerns about short ownership periods, I've been there several times in the past, and it had nothing to do with issues with the car.
Most times it's just because I like to change things up fairly regularly, try something new (or more likely new-to-me). First time I owned a car for less than 6 mths, sold it only because work circumstances dictated I buy something larger. I had my E46 M3 vert for less than 2 years and about 10000kms because I ended up needing something more practical. Point is there are plenty of good reasons for moving on from a car in a relatively quick timeframe that have nothing to do with the car itself. |

Get a PPI from a BMW Indy shop or dealership to make sure it's got no issues. Do all the required maintenance and rod bearings, enjoy all the smiles per gallon. Silverstone has its charm
