I'm overseas but I live in Maine, and expect to be home for a couple weeks circa October. I know that misses lucid's timeframe, but I'm game for a little get together if anyone's still up for it.

http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/events/...px?EventID=387 I am calculating that my PS2s will be about done after this event, and that'll be a good transition to winter tires.

Not sure I'll be back by 04OCT, but if so, I'm in.
I've not done one of these before, so should be interesting. I got that I need a helmet, and that it needs to be Snell 2000 or later, but is there anything I ought to look for or avoid in helmets? I may pop up a thread if necessary. Bahn - I'm guessing this is the big thing in NH first week of OCT; there's nothing else showing on the CCA calendar. |

They are great fun, and very addictive. Helmet is the only requirement. I think you also need to attend the car control skill event prior to showing up for the track.

lucid - Ja, it looks like I may be stuck for this year, because I won't be able to make the required Advanced Driving Skill School ahead of time. I've written to the Event Coordinator, though, so maybe I'll come up lucky. If not, I'd still be up for a get together following or later in OCT, if anyone else is.
Being overseas, I won't be able to try any helmets on; is it reasonable to buy sight unseen? What am I looking for or avoiding, beyond Snell 2000 or later certification? Also, I lived in Monterey for two years a while back, and enjoyed the hell out of the PCH (1991 Jetta). It's beautiful out there, in a way I don't think people can understand, although Maine's got it beat for overall experience IMO. |

You should be looking for a good fit. I wouldn't order a helmet without trying it. If it doesn't fit you properly, it won't protect you well; your head will move around in the helmet in case of impact. Different models offer different fits, and obviosly the shape of your head matters, too. May be you can buy one locally where you are. It wouldn't have the SNELL sticker though. You can ask the coordinator about that, too. HJC makes some good entry level helmets.

Going through the Event Coordinator did the trick, luckily, so hopefully I can make it home in time.
Not a chance of finding a racing helmet around here, but maybe I can order a couple of sizes from Simpson and send back the one/s that don't fit. PITA, but that's life. |

I'd be up for a meet but can't make the Oct 4th event (need to be in town by the late afternoon). Other than Lucid's car, I haven't seen another one yet.

Hey WCH. How's it going? I had to redo the V2 wiring by the way because I apparently did not force the wire into the connector hard enough and it came lose. No problems apart from that. How's yours working out? I hope they didn't screw up your transmission during service?

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136245 It will take you a couple of hours to get everything together and complete the procedure if you haven't done it before. The second time I did, I was able to pull stuff out and put them back in 15 minutes. You end up with bruised knuckles though. Maybe it's just because I have skinny long fingers. I can help you with this when we get together, but at the expense of your knuckles!

Predictable bad news for me - I probably won't be back in time for the 04OCT track day at NHMS. I'll likely miss October entirely. How late in the season do things tend to run? I'd be willing to venture as far afield as the corrupt wilderness of Massachusetts if I have to...

You guys should take a nice drive down to Flanders, NJ and go to BMFEAST 2008 on Saturday, October 4, 2008.
There's already 200+ Bimmers signed up already. The drive will be worth it. Hope to see you guys there! Scott
