Do you mind if we play "Name That Sound!!"??

I came home a few weeks ago and heard a tapping that wasn't audible strongly from under the hood, so bottom end then? 84k miles, whatever, let's do the rod bearings. Took me a few weeks to finish since my first son was born last week and wanting to go mtb riding before the due date. Bearings went in fine, BE bearings, journals looked great. Today I fire it up, sounds the SAME! Since it's up on stands I can crawl under looking for it and it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side manifold? I grab the phone, start video, as I get close to it, it goes away! Instant, like a switch turned it off, 10 seconds into the video. I've not been able to repeat it but I've heard it twice, first was the last time it ran with OEM RB's, and second was the first minute of running with new RB's. First video is of sound and it disappearing. Second video is after a 20 mile test drive tonight (living close to Oregon country roads )

Thoughts please. TIA

That sounds similar to what mine does occasionally/randomly as well, usually after being warmed up for a while. I shrugged it off as one of the "weird but normal sounds" for this engine. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

I don't hear anything abnormal.

You hear the typical S65/85 sewing machine noises . Idling ,they all sound the same,it's the valvetrain ect..
No worries . It sounds OK

Thanks guys. Not too worried about it especially since it turned off instantly it's not like something that is lingering which I believe to be more consistent with a mechanical issue. The irony here is that it was the Catalyst for me to pull my rod bearings which did in fact show copper regardless of my Blackstone report's. Oh well. Get her out there and run her hard!
