When do I get my production number?
Hey guys I ordered my M3 about a week and a half ago and the dealer still hasnt give me a production number. He says he hasnt got one yet and is waiting on it but he placed the order. Is that normal?

The day I ordered my car they gave me a build shee that had a production number on it. I thought once they put the order in, you get a productin number. Something doesn't sound right...

No they can actually put your order in computer bank but not have an allocation (production number). Most allocation's come at the 3 week of the month for the next month's production. However your dealer may a production slot that has not been taken yet. So I would double check.

technically they dont have they are waiting for the allocation and BMW has not accepted the order until you get the prod number. the number is issued and you go status 111 which means BMW accpeted the order.
so I would guess your order is not accepted yet.

I think that means that that dealer is way behind cuz that dealer doesnt have a spot with the BMWusa yet until they have it thats when they give your number. I got mine the next day after I ordered. But Idk keep buggin em till they tell you or ask manager

It all depends if the dealer has an allocation for that month. I think all the BMW US dealers got their allocation list last week (Friday) for June build. So if the dealer told you that your order is for their June build allocation and they reserve it for you, then you are safe as long as they got their expected allocation (99%). I placed my order last week also and they reserve their allocation for June build for my order. They got the listing last Friday with the production number. Please check with your CA and inquire about the allocations.

Same for me... I got my production number (which was on a build sheet) the day I plunked down my $5K deposit. Using that number to track the production progress, however, has so far been a bust. Their website shows I've ordered a Jet Black 2006 530i. So, I'm no better off with a number than you are without one.
