Do i need a retune on ess supercharger w/ stock cats?

Hi all, I'm going to be taking off my AA x pipe w/ High flow cats. And putting a stock X pipe with OEM main cats back on and keeping the supercharger on the car. What will happen if i do this without getting an ESS re-tune for stock cats? I would eventually get a re-tune if i keep the stock X pipe on but i want to test it out, will the car have any issues or throw any codes?

Probably nothing, but ESS will usually provide the tune you need for free

What ess kit you have?
625 and 650's recommend HFC's. Might want to inquire about that. Lessor kits shouldn't make any difference in the tune.

you dont have to change the tune, did the same thing on mine.
You will gain soem torque midrange and lose some power at high rpm

I'm sure a tune with test pipes will need a revision , not sure about high flow cats , I've seen a couple of stock cats melt .

If you are putting the stock xpipe and stock cats back on to pass smog (the obd testing) then you'll need a tune to get your emissions readiness to turn back on. (You'll still need a smog tech however to turn a blind eye to the supercharger under the hood)

thanks for the replies,

not worried about emissions/state inspection. doing it to see if it will resolve a exhaust vibration. I have an ESS595 kit. So I won't need to worry about anything or even get a retune for stock cats?

You will be fine but big loss in power!

How much power loss will happen just from adding back the cats? I have a ESS 595 kit with eisenmann race exhaust.

Running stock cats on a supercharged S65 is pretty bad... You lose a lot of power, which pretty much defeats the purpose of getting a Supercharger. If anything, use high flow cats!

I'm assuming you lose 25-30HP by running stock cats. I really like my exhaust and it can't be ran with HFC's (I tried and it's unbearable). Not to mention I have emissions testing every year so swapping them out would be a pain. The car is insanely faster than when I was stock =).

Very true, over here in Canada emissions are done via OBD. I thought most tuners had a fix that could pass that?

What exhaust setup are you currently running? And why couldn't you handle HFC's?

Titanium Meisterschaft GT2 with stock cats. I ran the AA HFC X-Pipe and it was stupid loud and sounded like shit at WOT.
