new front rotors and pads
Front rotors and pads were replaced under warranty. Just curious if there is a procedure for breaking them in? Also, I'm noticing grooves on the rotors from the pads - normal? Sorry guys, not so much a chassis expert.
I've done a few hard stops and then release. So far about 200-300miles used thus far. |

Those aren't grooves persay but more from the machining process, marks left from the tooling.
Go out to a empty road where you can accelerate up to @ 50 + mph and do several hard stops to @ 20 and you should be good to go. |

1. Rotors look fine.
2. From the owner's manual: Brake system Brakes require an initial break-in period of approx. 300 miles/500 km to achieve optimized contact and wear patterns between brake pads and rotors. Drive with caution during this breakin period.

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream. - Jeremy Clarkson, discussing the S65 and then S55 M3 engines. |

On my e90 it was because the pads were gone, several times due to some track use. In my x5d it is because the service indicator is close even though I can see the rear pads and tell they have a ton of meat left.
