Just buy both and call it a day. Give it a year and see which one you like better then sell the one you dislike the most

both are awesome cars that are super fast it just comes down to personal preference.
M3 is the better handler and is easier to drive fast however it isn't very exciting unless you are really pushing it(constantly over 4k RPM that is) and you can buy a m3 with a manual tranny which is a big ++ for a lot of potential owners out there. It is a big + for me as well however i am sicking tired of the bmw shifting feel. C63 feels heavier than the m3 so it isn't as delicate through the corners and don't give driver too much confidence. However its got massive power and a exhaust note that the m3 can't compare with. C63 also gets much better brakes than the m3 that will work on the track.

To the OP, did you choose between the c63/m3 yet? If so, which one? Honestly, drive both cars. The C63 has such an amazing engine that its hard to look past. Sounds great, brakes great, and handling is well above average. However, the car may be a little bumpy but that is for you to decide how much you can tolerate. The C from what I've heard can be had at an attractive discount as well. The M3 can initially feel a little mushier when driving on the streets. The torque wont be there like the C but it too has an amazing engine. When broken in the M3's engine truly is so versatile. I thought the ride was quite comfy (maybe too soft) and the 6mt needed some serious work (a ssk would do the trick). I hated the DCT and much preferred the slush box in the Merc over it. However, the M3 feels like a athlete and the steering is sharp and taut. My choice? Well.. The e90 m3 in space grey/fox red on 19's takes the cake in the looks department but honestly i'd probably have to drive both back to back to back to back to back. I absolutely love the engine in the merc and LOVE driving stick shift so I guess it's a draw.

A tuner named Carlsson just announced they have tuned the 2010 E63:
"The 2010 E63 AMG puts out 525 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque stock, but with minor modifications, Carlsson upped the output to 585 hp and 513 lb-ft of torque. To do this, Carlsson only needed to remap the ECU and add a new exhaust system." They managed to get almost 600HP out of our M156 6.2L engine by just doing an ECU tune and new exhaust??? If you havent decided yet and you love power....look no farther bro. C62 w/ a Carlsson Tune

Adding a second mirror image hood nostril, in addition the one fully functional one on the drivers side, which simply insures design symmetry, is absolutely not a case of form above function or a case of functionless design.

They are both great cars but I feel the Cadillac CTS-v bridges the gap between both. I'm not sure about service and quality of the Caddy but it is a bad machine and easy to upgrade.

The DCT unit weighs 185 lb per BMWfans.info. That is probably dry and the fluid will be about 18 lb. So about 203 lb wet. I found the M3 6MT to be ~147 lb (adding up some numbers for gearbox and clutch, so automatic/manual/DCT figures are more apples to apples). This number is almost for sure dry which will make it ~152 wet. I have seen the 8 speed Lexus IS-F automatic transmission quoted at 211 lb (again probably dry) meaning ~ 231 wet (11 quart capacity). I'd bet the C63 7 speed auto is close to the Lexus number, maybe a bit less.
