Someone asked if the VAC and BE ARP spec bolts were the same. In the pictures, I noticed one had a 17 on it and the other had a 18 on the head. Does that matter - I don't know. I don't know if that is thread count or length...

Testing is currently underway and will be ongoing for some time. Once there is enough data from testing to support it I'm sure BE Bearings will make some claims as to the expected longevity of the bearings. I don't think anyone that was involved with these bearings wants to make a claim without the data to back it up. With that being said, some of the best and brightest people, engine builders and manufacturers in the industry had a say on the design. |

Thank you for your parts in getting these built. If nothing else, the lead and copper will allow us to run blackstone analysis to get an idea of how they're wearing |

Do you have any thoughts on the fuel dilution theory since some of the S85's in that AutoTalent thread seem to have high fuel levels and on e S65 had very high fuel levels. Also, how's it going in Fort McMurry after the fires? Hope your home is ok. Scary videos came out of there. .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Thanks for the concern about us guys up in Fort McMurray. In total just upward of 2400 structures were lost, that is about 11% of the city. Much of the city is un affected but the hard hit areas are quite devastated, three complete subdivisions were nearly wiped out. As for me, my home and vehicles survived without damage so I count myself lucky. Some of my colleagues and friends list their homes and my heart just sinks when thinking what they are going through..... In a way, it actually makes you feel guilty that your place survived knowing people that lost their's. |

I recently installed a VAC bearing kit with their Proprietary ARP rod bolts. They spec'd 45 ft.lbs. installation torque. Slightly different than others' ARP bolts. Not sure there are any other technical advantages or disadvantages. As far as I understand it, each shop has their own recipe for hardware that combats rod BE distortion with their bearings.
Also....I just ordered more BE bearing/bolts. Looking forward to receiving them once back in stock! |

By keeping it short, it all came down to cost. One bearing size eases and speeds up assembly of the engines. There may have been other factors, but that was definitely the biggest. No downsides to this, and testing is ongoing with the BE Bearings as we speak.

There was an interesting situation a few weeks ago. A guy suffered from #1 main bearing failure which in turn took out the #1,5 rod bearings. The rod got so hot it turned blue, but didn't seize on the journal. The BE-ARP bolt was burnt, blue, and bent...but it held. The bolt came off and of course there was carnage underneath. But the bolt held and that's the point.
