Holy cow! What a piece of artwork!
Did the fabricator of that piece make a mold so that they can make more?

It was a custom one-of-one...not sure if the mold is still available.

Maybe get an HGK one? OG Shark has one at his shop I was able to see in person. Really well made and not super expensive.

Heard back from Motorsport24. Shipping is more expensive than the hood….5-7 weeks production. Hood: 1336Euro. Shipping: 1393Euro.
Hood looks nice. |

FYI, the M24 stuff is real race gear.. their molds are old and tired, fitment is poor, because racecar, and the amount of prep work on their dry carbon will cost more than the hood and the shipping. I have an M24 hood I bought second hand. Looks awesome in photos and it's not going anywhere, light AF, but glad I didn't pay the full new premium.

I am really sorry to see this happen to you Gabe. It sucks, as you may know, I smashed the front end on my E46 and had a bunch of stuff I had to do to repair it. Did all of your accessories on your S65 make it through unscathed? The impact damaged some of the pulleys on my engine but the motor survived.
Hope you come back stronger than ever from this!

Yes, I remember seeing the video of your E46 incident in Vegas. Always a bummer when these things happen. As far as I know the coolant radiator and everything behind it are fine. Everything in front of the coolant radiator is being replaced. I was kinda bummed—-I reached out to do88 to see if I could just buy the duct piece that goes along with the DCT cooler. They responded saying they would sell it to me for $469 plus shipping and customs fees…..over $500 for a simple duct??? uhhhh no thanks. We’ll figure out how to fix the one I have….sheesh. Reluctantly, I have decided to go with a stock hood. Available immediately. No shipping fees. Will fit perfectly without any fitment problems or prep aside from paint. The shop is moving things along quickly, so I needed to get something in hand. Not my favorite solution, but I just want to get the car back together. A fancy hood seems like it will slow things down and add significant cost to the fix. |

Never got around to installing it before selling the car, but also got my coolers from Leddy.
IIRC, the duct piece is carbon fiber? Probably why the price is a bit on the high side. Maybe able to be repaired or could do a sheet-metal copy somehow?

@dogbone -- late to the party (wife got covid in Vancouver, stranding us there since we couldn't fly home -- long story but we got home...then I got strep, followed by covid).
Sorry to hear about your accident but at least the damage is only to the car, not a human. Cars are just things. Trailer issues were my entire racing life. Wheel falling off coming up the Tehachipi grade (that was fun), flat tires, blowouts, meh. Trailer technology is 19th century in my opinion. Save that wheel and hang the garden hose up on it. Nice gentle reminder to have in the garage! ;-) GL GL on getting things sorted.

I just ordered the full kit from Leddy and the oil cooler is currently out of stock, it's at the do88, they are currently waiting on the oil cooler cores to get manufactured. Going to see if Autocouture has any left in stock. The rest of the kit is in stock.

You know, I don't hear of too many trailer problems from other people. I was starting to think it was just me. ![]() Anyway, thanks for the shout out. I guess this is a good moment to share an update: Progress update: -All parts necessary to fix the car have been ordered, and most pieces have arrived. And most have been test fitted. -Hood vents have been cut into the new hood. Hood is going to be painted Interlagos Blue. -The new fender is in the process of the vents being cut into it. Between the top vent and the rear vent on the fender, there's a lot to do to it. -The upper frame rail has been straightened. -The shop decided to mount the supercharger intercooler in a different spot so it's not in front of the oil cooler. Will be interesting to see how that plays out. -The Titan-7 rim definitely hit the tire barrier in some way. I had the steering wheel turned fully to left when I hit. You can see some marks on the rim. The tire has several cuts in it. I was curious how well the rim survived. Took it to my tire shop and spun it on the balancer. The rim runs 100% perfectly straight on both the inner and outer edges. Tough rims! I'll probably still replace it mostly for cosmetic reasons and keep it as a spare. -Splitter repair has not begun yet. They said they hope to start on it next week. -I received the new VoltPhreaks battery. While I would love to lose the weight of the stock battery, I want to get the car back together and make sure it's running ok before adding another variable to the equation. So, I'll tackle that project once the car is running. Pikes Peak's 100th running is this weekend. A bunch of car guys that I know are coming to town. Looking forward to seeing them. I was on a walk yesterday with my dog and randomly met a really interesting guy who lives in the neighborhood. When he was a teenager in the 1960s, he worked as a mechanic for Mickey Thompson in Long Beach, CA. That led to a lifelong passion in cars. He has so many cool stories. And he has many amazing collectibles. It's always fun to meet new car people.
