Great lap, and nice video CanAutM3! I was at Tremblant that same weekend in my 06 325ci running significantly slower than you but I was only on my ninth track day. My 08 E92 M3 6MT Jerez Black arrives at the end of May so I will have it at Tremblant for the June 9-10 event. I'll be running the square 275/35-18 Nitto NT01 setup and Hawk HP Plus pads as well. I'm a bit nervous moving from the 184 HP 325ci to the M3, but looking forward to it as well. I've found the instructors to be very helpful so I'm sure the transition will be fine. |

I am convinced it will be a smooth transition, the E9X M3 is such a nice machine to drive . I'll be instructing on that week-end at Tremblant, maybe we'll work together . Cheers. Last edited by CanAutM3; 05-08-2012 at 03:02 PM.. |

Spring warm-up at the very short but reasonably fast St-Eustache track near Montréal. Track was newly paved last year, so surface was pretty good. Only got my GoPro working for one session, this is my best lap of the session.
Cool history tidbit: The famed Gilles Villeneuve got his first race car lesson on this track . Full back straight configuration (no bus stop) E92 M3 DCT Track/Course: Autodrôme St-Eustache Best Lap Time: 0:55.17 Brake Pads: Hawk HP plus front, OEM rear (still had meat left on them ) Tires (Size & Model): Nitto NT-01 275/35 18 square (worn to the cord ) Suspension: Stock with EDC and GC camber plates Other Mods: None Last edited by CanAutM3; 05-15-2012 at 08:34 PM.. |

I may not make any track days this year. My 08 M3 was stolen. I just ordered a new M3 this week with expected delivery in late July. Ordered a Space Grey on Fox Red, fully loaded with competition package and DCT this time. Also ordered the wheels in matte black. Maybe late in the season I'll get a track day in. How do you fin the difference to be with NT01's over say NT05's? I have NT05's on my Volk wheels and don't like them.

I think the NT01 are a fairly reasonable compromise. Wear, grip, predictibility and price are all pretty decent. I can't compare to the NT05 as I have never used them. However Gearhead999 seems to have a good experience with them. They seem to be a bit more biased towards better wear than ultimate grip compared to the NT01. I have to mention that the NT01 totally suck in the wet though. Hopefully we'll see you at the track before summer is over. It would be a shame to have a whole season go to waste . Enjoy your new ride !! Last edited by CanAutM3; 05-20-2012 at 08:55 PM.. |

Thanks Randall! I managed 2:04 in the second session of the day with my "new European MDM" (RS3 grip like hell compared to my old stock Conti SportContact3), then I turned DSC off and did 2:07 in 3rd "DCS off" session (I was cautious) and then 2:05 in the 4th (DSC off). Then I put a passenger in the car and went all out on the first lap, my tires were not up to temperature and I came out way to hot out of the Club Corner, my car started oversteering when I was going through high speed left-hand Bus Stop corner, I let off the gas which made oversteer worst and I spun out right before second left hander Bus Stop. The car was full of Buttonwillow dirt and rocks the size of a quarter since I had both windows open with passenger. I hate this rule! Just like in your video It was a crazy day - the heat was immense, I was starting to lose brakes after 12-15 minutes.. I am about to make a separate post. Stay tuned

Can I see the video? I just timed my fastest at 2:37 flat, but on street tires.
