I wanted to be able to run 18" wheels with my Brembo 380MM BBK so I called IND today and spoke to Ilia. He is hooking me up with set of HRE R43's in brushed finish for track wheels.
For Tires I think I am going to go with a set of AD08's in 265F/285R. Since I am a novice on the track I figured I should get a bit of track time under my belt on street tires before going to an R-Comp tire. If you guys have any recommendations as to which tire and size I should go with please let me know, I appreciate any advice you veterans can give. Can't wait till August....... I am 90% sure I will be able to be there. It will be April before I can commit 100% but at this point it looks like a go! |

Hey Jamie - that is a good set up. I have the HRE Fall Lines, which I believe are like the new R43's. I am using 9.5 and 10 and run 275/285 with NT05's so I could drive to the track. The 268/285 AD08's will be a nice set up as well. This will give you the same stagger as stock and the street rubber will let you get a good feel for the car and what it can do on the track. Unless you plan on running a 295 or wider on the rear, no need to go to a 10.5 IMO. The 9.5/10 will also allow you to run 275 on all four corners if you choose as well. I picked up some RA1's and will be doing that myself this year. Hope you can make it out! |

And hey Duncan, I've tentatively signed up for a group buy on a set of the Apex 8's in a square setup (10x10 following your recommendation) and I think I'm going to go with your advice on the Nitto's (NT05's or NT01's - which one keeping in mind I'll be driving to/from the track??/). Question is, can we get them 'round here for something reasonable?? Talk soon and thanks for the advice - Mark |

Manny at Extreme Tire Garage 877 274 8008 Jaypod also used him last year for his NT05's on his HRE's. Last edited by Gearhead999s; 02-09-2011 at 10:55 AM.. |

Thanks again Duncan. Last question for either yourself or Jaypod...NTO5's or NTO1's? I'm sorta leaning to the 01's, only street use they'll see is pretty much the commute to and from the track(s). Jay....a quick thought on your 05's (versus why you didn't go with the 01's) would be appreciated if you get a moment. Again, thanks. I really appreciate your insights !!

Quite the opposite.I got a useful 8 full days out of my NT05's and I usually get a useful 3-4 days out of my RA-1's which supposedly are the same carcass & compound as the NT01.Toyo & Nitto are the same company.

The AD08 is a 285/30 not a 285/35 right? I use a similar set up to Jay's with the NT05s, but Im using ADVAN RS wheels.

I have 4 events on my NT05s(Road Atlanta and Barber) and a few mountain runs when I was living down south, should be able to get at least 4 to 5 more track days out of them.

As for the AD08's Ilia let me know today that they were only available in a 285/30/18 and the diameter of them will be too small. I am going with NT05's instead. |

The 05's will last longer than the 01's but the 01's will have more grip. Thanks for the correction Duncan. |
