I know what you mean. But a lot of those cars if not all have inferior braking performance(feel, fade, distance) than the m3. It just looks cool to have the brembo stamp. I think they are a bit different than the aftermarket bbks that they supply. I'd rather have "no name" effective brakes than branded inferior oems.

This is maybe the one glaring deficiency of the M3. Most other things are at least subjective, this is not. |

I'm sure bmw could charge an extra 2-3k for full on brembo kit on the m3 and 90% of owner would include this option. forget about performance for a second, the m3 just own the rs5 in the look department hands down. that alone is worth the price already. Glaring deficiency maybe, but never really get it because the deficiency is usually at the edge of performance, at this level it's the driver not the car. Like when i used to track my bikes, passed plenty of liter bikes on my 600, and even saw quite a few 250s lapping everyone... Size of the fight in the dog, not dog in the fight...

To paraphrase what was stated a few posts back; buy the multi-piston brakes to help your penis envy, but learn how to drive in order to go fast. For all the sub-50 year olds: Try stopping a 1966 big block Chevelle from 70 miles per hour, just ONCE, before complaining about the M3 brakes.

Man, I can hear that engine note from a mile away. No V8 engine I have ever heard sounds as good as the one in the M. Btw, the review is decent, but the guy is a twat.

Are you high? Every V8 I can think of sounds better. The M3's V8 isn't anywhere near loud enough nor aggressive enough. Mine's so quiet I regularly have people ask me if I have an exhaust leak because the noise out the tailpipes pales incomarison to whatever the hell is making that chuffing sound under the hood/in the cat area.

when my exhaust was stock i was asked that alot... "have you got n exhaust leak?" only when cold... 2 people even asked me "is that a diesel?"... I had to hold myself back aftermarket exhaust now means people no longer ask such questions... not sure about that review though... how come a car thats only been out 3 years is now classed as "getting on a bit"... and how come every modern audi looks the same... I mean... why get an RS5 over an S5? the difference is bareley noticable.... |

it maybe too quiet stock because bmw want to keep it civilized for the target buyers, most people use m3 as daily/year round car and a loud car will get old pretty fast. but once you mod it, no other v8 under 100k can match it mod or not. |

The V8 R8 sounds better IMO as so most domestic performance V8s. I also think having to spend 3 grand on top of the already high price is silly. It's a ///Motorsport car, it should sound like it. If you have to change the exhaust to make that happen then its not really the M3's sound IMO.
