Jerky DCT, DSC malfuction, Engine malfuction and then a Limp
It was a perfect afternoon and I was on my way to pick up a copy of FF XIII. Just as I pulled into bestbuy's parking lot, I noticed an unusual jerky gear change from the DCT (mind you the car is flashed according to SIB280708 last June). Didn't really mind it and kept driving toward a small intersection with stop signs and an incline. I fully stopped the car and gave it a little gas when it was my term to move but I soon notice the hill assist was completely gone and I had to give a little bit more gas than I usually do to prevent rolling further back or possibly stall. Got out of the intersection, I was scratching on my head and the next thing i found out is my iDrive telling me DSC malfunction, Engine malfunction and of course a limp mode (see pics below)
could this be the idle valve cause that's the only known issue that has not happened on my car... All the above incidents happened in a parking lot, hence, really slow speed.

Those syptoms fall right in line with the idle control valvle. Mine went bad at 12000 miles, so that is a definite possibility.

I got these exact same errors today.
I was already at the dealer though, so luckily I just left the car there. I hope its just the idle control valve. I have Dinan software and Akra full exhaust. My dealer is a Dinan dealer also, so hopefully they don't try to blame it on the software or exhaust.

I hope all works out in your favor. But don't they (whatever powers that be) have to prove it (that your Dinan has anything to do with it, beyond a reasonable doubt?)? I only ask because I know that Steve’s stuff doesn’t come cheap, and since I haven’t had much to do with the “aftermarket” in a decade, I was curious. Again, best of luck. |

Im guessing its the idle control valve though. I have had the Dinan software in the car for the last 2500KMs though with zero issues. I should mention that I have a 6spd though.

I am looking at a 2011,are there still all these problems with. DCT. Sure don't need a 80 k car that don't work like a champ. It even seemed BMW did not care about fixing it.

Buy the 2011. These problems are sporadic and not endemic to the car. BMW will stand behind your car. High performance cars are also high strung.

Have had no issues yet, only 17k miles though. Keeping my fingers crossed, don't want her to be stuck at the dealership.

Ha, while yes it isnt endemic to the car asking BMW to stand behind their product is asking a lot... Atleast for me.

oh boy I hope it don't get ugly for you keep us posted, I just had a problem with my 2008 6MT M3 going in limp mode a few weeks ago and it was because the #7 valve spring came off . My M3 has 41,000+ miles. I was lucky it did no damage to the engine and it was covered under warranty, they started not to at first and said I had a few over revs but they changed their mind . But all did not work out good needless to say because the Stealership damaged the passenger side door on my M3 they sent it to a body shop and repainted and fixed it . I been in a military school for a month during the time my M3 was being fixed and damaged by the stealership. I go back home this weekend and finally get to see if my M3 is still good as new or not heads will roll if it is not ![]() Sorry for the Bluesummer good luck on getting your M3 fixed
