That way you can have plenty of fun and save the rest of the money for college or whatever. Because when you start off already up in M3 range its hard get any satisfaction unless your next car is even faster still.

My opinion is start off in the slower range and work your way up in order to get both the experience and appreciation for power/fun. It's just not very sensible in any aspect. You get much more satisfaction and respect for something that you slowly build up to, but anyways, i'll get off my soapbox now.
thats what i did, 328xi now, 335 soon.

wow..... its amazing what will generate a thread, hate, love and props apparently...

first off congrats bro, i wish i was as lucky as you to get an M3 for my 16th birthday.... i grew up in repo'ed homes and actually at one point was homeless...... i couldnt be like my folks, i was set out to be successfull and thanks to hard work and dedication, im 20 years old and own a new 335i coupe.... not quite an M3 but i bet i feel much more thrilled knowing i did all this hard work myself to earn my whip.... dont get me wrong im sure you love your car, but if you had to work for ever penny that was spent on it im sure you would love it even more...

congrats and go tear it up, just be responsible and think how well off you really are...

You are screwed for getting that car for your 16 birthday... I dont mean you cant handle the car, you will learn, you will dent it, scratch it, allow your peers to egg you on and do stupid things.

What I mean by your screwed is... from this day forward you will only want really nice cars, in 5 years what will be your next ride, a Honda? I doubt you will ever be satisfied with anything... Trust me I know... my first car was a 59 Vette... thanks mom and dad for making me car crazy for the rest of my life...

Congrats... you will love this car

Gratz on the sweet car dude. I don't know what your parents are thinking getting a responsible but yet "inexperienced" 16 year old a 400hp rwd car.

But then again, I would probably want the same anyway if I was 16.

You better make good money later to be able to afford cars better than your m3.

Anyway, even at 28 you can mess around with the power and end up doing dumb stuff, like spinning your car around the corner in the Marina w/o EDC on. Yyaahh... Just be careful, b/c the life you can endanger might not be your own.

Oh yah, I was always speeding in my Camry, don't do that...
I dont wanna be an ass but will EDC being off do?..make your suspension to stiff or to soft?...lol...anyways good luck with the car man...never drive it to school and get good grades to keep that insurance low

I think it's nice how you explained everything but a 328 is noticeably slower than an M3....and a 335i as well. I think M3 is not a bad car to start off with.

Dude, seriously. I don't care who you are, unless you do it professionally any driver under 18 is inexperienced and probably doesn't need an M3.
