Btw I have 2 high mileage ps pumps if someone wants to try it on a donor unit instead of theirs. Free, just pay for shipping.

Can't send you a PM...but here is the answer to your question...

If street driving, I would stick with 1-2. Or lift more weights.

Once you are moving it won't feel significantly different street driving. If you are turning laps at a track, you'll definitely notice after 15 minutes. I would describe it as making the steering less sensitive.

Lower speeds, yeah...gonna notice it.

If this is purely a street car you can eliminate most of the spillage by filling the reservoir to the bottom on the dipstick. If you do that, then all would need is 1 shim if you just want to eliminate the fluid leakage. Unless you're running it to redline all of the time.

Shim the pressure regulator to lower pressure and increase recirc flow. This stops leaks, protects the pump, and improves steering feel. Steering gets a bit heavier.

Revisiting this thread. Are 2 shims enough to prevent PS fluid overflow? I don't want gorilla arms for my car which is 90% daily driven.

2 shims will reduce the amount of fluid that leaks out. Can't say all fluid leakage is eliminated. If the container is overfilled, fluid will leak out.

You can run the reservoir a little lower because of the increased recirc flow through the regulator which can help lower or eliminate leakage. I run my E46 so the fluid just touches the dipstick. Typically, no fluid leaks out. If I fill it higher then there will be some seepage.
