Yea - the Strom guys set it up and apparently it’s flawless. I’ll get some more info.

finally got the Bimmerworld PS reservoir installed in my E90. super stoked on my decision to powder coat it in satin black. i think it blends in with the engine bay a lot more than the raw aluminum and gives it a OEM+ like feel. only complaint would be the 45 degree AN fitting going to the return line sits right against the AC lines. i think i’ll switch this to a 90 degree one before my next track day to avoid any issues and for piece of mind.

Personally, IMO, the only PS steering reservoir that I will put in my car is the EAE one. I installed it on my E60 M5 and e92 M3. The BW one has too many welds and looks completely out of place. The tuner one looks worst. Both have proven to leak on many cars as well. EAE Motorsports PS Steering Reservoir maintains the OEM+ look with all the the added features that ensure it will never leak. With the baffled design, serviceable filter, and almost 200ml increase in capacity, it really is a no brainer.

I thought that was very obvious. The only reason I even requested EAE to make this reservoir is because I was frustrated with the other options out there that didn't work out. Glad we have a bullet proof option at a very affordable price.

How exactly would that be obvious to someone who's not on the forums regularly? nothing about your profile mentions your affiliation with them or that you benefit financially by selling their products (ownership of? whatever).

Have you already tried that to say it doesn't 100% prevent overflow? Isn't it the same design as the future classic one? I can't find any review on them.

Sorry I didn't reply this earlier. Yes I have a Future Classic replica PS reservoir (it's just a taller container that screws into the original PS reservoir and uses the original PS cap) and it still leaks a bit at track. And that's with fluid filled only to the min mark (cold). A few other track guys here using the same reservoir report similar issues.

If the cold fluid level is at the min mark, the margin between min and max is the same (because stock cap), but the reservoir is taller... isn't the margin between min and max now a smaller percentage of the total volume?

I've been weighing different solutions and, in the meantime, letting my stock reservoir leak until it was at the min mark when cold. When it got down there, fluid loss slowed dramatically. Not sure if it's zero now, but it's definitely nowhere near what was before. I've now lost all motivation to do more than add a sweatband. Guess we'll see next season...

It still weeps a bit of fluid with the FC container, but nowhere near as bad as without. I still do run a sweatband also... 😅

The issue is the factory reservoir cap has a vent hole in it. So on track, when the fluid gets hot and slushes around it comes out of the hole (not a lot, but enough to make a mess).

This is what I did on my old E92 race car. No mess afterward and wayyy cheaper than an aftermarket option. Similar to what roastbeef mentioned above.


I'll be doing the same thing on the new M3 I'm building soon.

I like this option the best. Brilliant!

One of the many projects I have on my desk is putting together an easy-to-install package for this conversion, and I have a design for a new power steering reservoir cap that stops all fluid spillage with no moving parts. It's not a new invention; it's just applying an existing and established technology from another industry.
