Stainless steel filtration is not a new technology but is quickly gaining popularity in the automotive segment. With the ability to filter down as small as a paper filter element with the ability to be washed and reused!

The K&P Engineering filter element is made from medical grade, type 304 stainless steel micronic filter cloth to provide unmatched protection against oil contamination and resultant engine damage. A one inch square of this material has a flow rate of 1.9gpm and filters down to 35 microns. The twist lock design assures positive filter element placement and allows for easy disassembly, inspection, and cleaning. The quad-ring gasket doubles the seal between the filter and the engine. As an ex aircraft mechanic I would say no. Most older piston engines came with those, after a while majority of companies switched to the spin on type paper filter. The paper style filters better and it's a lot easier to change then the SS ones. $15 a year for a filter is very cheap.

If I need to be taking it out anyways to 'wash it', I'll just replace it with a standard filter... Tried and true.

Since was ordering my typical LM oil change kit, opted to purchase a K&P too.

No since goin' with it or introducing 'risks', if no compelling evidence or testimonials from this Community ==> Returning

I second that, also prior A&P (pilot now) and one thing I also like about regular paper type filters, is you can easily cut it open when changing your oil and inspect for any metal particles. I feel it’s even just as important as oil samples.
