DCT Adaptation issue using Foxwell NT530

I'm using the NT530 with BMW software - apparently it is the replacement to the NT510.

I do not have any experience with this product and there is very poor instructions on how to use it.

I am unable to complete any of the DCT resets from the Foxwell. In the sequence it asks to start engine, engage N, turn off engine. If you do that, it puts the car in park when you turn off the engine. The rest is unable to run.

I use the service lever to move it to N and followed the process but it still fails.

Can't find much answers online. I have seen videos of other software with similar steps but it doesn't ask to turn off engine after engaging N.

The test will not run with the engine on. So it fails again.

Any idea?

Old thread we'll see if you're still around mate: After realizing Protool doesn't do the actual clutch re learn I wonder of you ever manage to this with the NT530?

Im in the same boat. Cant reset with foxwell. Says Car not in N. Tried every trick I could think of. Feels like its something stupid and I hope its me cause I really need to reset. Help.

When you leave the Key in the slot, and turn it off. It stays in Neutral and doesn't go to P.

Is it the reset you miss or clutch relearning? If reset I don't believe you notice much when you're doing it.
I reset adaptation using Protool. It doesn't support the clutch relearn feature which instead done by driving.

Trying to reset adaptations with foxwell tool. Keep getting error message about car not being in neutral and cant find a way around that. Until now maybe. Actually put the key in the hole rather that just in the car.

Again I thought the actual reset was done in a blink regardless of engine on/off. Will be interesting to get some feedback once you get the clutch re learn up running!

Honestly, Im not exactly sure the difference between adaptations, relearn, and reset. All I know is that i was told to reset the "adaptations" for a few reasons. I was told I needed a tool to do it. My foxwell 510 clearly has that function and walks you through a process. I just havent been able to execute that process without the erroro message about being in N.

Ill give a full report once I go out and try! Thanks for the help!

The "reset" is simply clearing the clutches adaptations that has taken place during operation. That is like a computer/memory being cleared, nothing you notice when it is being done. You may notice it once done depending on issues you have had.
When "relearning" the clutches are from what I understand (mechanically) being pulled to feel where the kiss point is, which is feed back and stored in the "adaptation memory". I haven't done this myself as my tool (Protool) doesn't support it but apparently you will notice this as it makes mechanical noises.
As Protool doesn't support the relearn, the (re-) adaptation is being done during driving after the reset.

do it with ISTA or INPA, thats the only bulletproof way to ensure it's done properly.
