Consensus on fuel injectors?

It seems like we've added another item to the list of preventative measures for the S65 with the fuel injectors. Has it been determined what exactly is the culprit or are we just assuming that the injectors have become a wear component?

With that said, prices on these fuel injectors have risen dramatically. A full set of fuel injectors runs about $460. Pretty pricey but relatively cheap compared with a new engine obviously. Considering the price of OE injectors, are there any alternative performance fuel injectors available on the market that can potentially alleviate the issues from the OE injectors? I'm not looking for something more cost effective, rather something that's been engineered to be more robust for a better peace of mind.

A simple Google search for stuck Bosch injectors will lead you down plenty of paths from AMG's to M5's. Seems like the common denominator here is Bosch so if we can find a better alternative like we have with BE bearings, that would be ideal.

I'm using these without issue, they're genuine Bosch. Funny enough they were $19 each when I ordered them a few months back

I had my injectors cleaned.
Before cleaning, it said 5 of them were dripping and 3 with fair spray.
After was excellent for all.

My 2 cents. I don't believe in injector cleaning especially when you can buy Bosch 0280158164 for $20.

The Injector Dynamics ID series sounds very promising.

Replaceable inlet filter extends service life.

Are these compatible with the stock ECU or is a tune necessary? The ID1050x doesn't cost much more than OE injectors from FCP Euro so if this is possible, this is likely the path I will take. Thanks again for the suggestions!

They will not work without a tune.

I'm buying without VAT and have a discount as I'm buying more parts from them.

For you it will be more like $40 + shipping. Hop that it helps. When I was buying them they had 150 in stock.

Btw also in Europe most of the shops are out of stock for these.

But as you are not from EU you could theoretically also buy without VAT but for that you would need to check with them as I'm not sure.

And if you buy let's say 100 they will give you better deal. I was actually thinking about it, as an investment because they have potential to turn into gold like ignition coils did.

Washing a cylinder with fuel could be failed injector. Could be fuel filter breaking up issue. I don't think anyone seems to know. I decided new injectors were cheap enough to buy and install so I did that. Why not.

70,000 miles. I always use "Top Tier" gas, which is supposed to have cleaner in it... don't think it helps!!!

If injectors were $20, I'd get new ones too. Having said that, I'm still waiting to hear how much it was to clean them since I'm waiting on the bill.

Btw BMW sells them (the same BOSCH units) at ~$200 (without VAT) each so $1600 in total.

Just ordered the Bosch kit from FCP. Sucks to spend the money preventatively, but I had the same thought about ignition coils 2 years ago and now I'm getting robbed blind at $250 each when a coil goes bad. Time to start hoarding parts I guess.
