Brakes myself or shop?
I called the stealership and they quoted me $1200 for replacing all 4 pads. If the rotors need, add another $2k. I just assume the stealer will advise I replace the rotors. While they look clean, I can clearly see they're worn. They are original pads with one full track day and 50k mi. Held up pretty well. I know Stop Tech is better and all, but I don't know that I have a real driver to switch.
For $3200 I feel like I'm getting ripped off for something that should take maybe 6 hours. Anybody know a reasonably priced shop in East LA/Pasadena area that I could take this too? If it's really easy to do with basic tool set, I might look at it.

buy this kit and take it to any basic indy shop and you'll save about $1k.

If you going replacement pad go OEM pads like ATE, Jurid, Textar. If you want street/track pad look Ferodo DS2500, HAWK HP Plus, EBC YeallowStuff etc. |

Any OEM pad is much better and safer choice. I used them just to test it, I would not use them again if paid. |

O. M. G. That quote is pure insanity!!! M3 parts are not cheap or anything, but that is a serious joke. $2k for rotors?? WTF. I would seriously have to have a talk with my SA if he came back to me with that price.
Yeah, brakes are the easiest DIY there is, and plenty of online help and videos if you are not sure. Jump in and do it!

DIY, its very easy. Also buy yourself a cheap brake caliper spreader off amazon to make it even easier.
Get replacement parts from FCP euro, for free replacement in the future. FCP carries Ferodo DS2500 also which are great pads if you want something with a little more bite than OEM. |

I called a local shop and for the pads they are $1k, with rotors it's another $1200. So I suppose $1k savings is worth it. Their oil change also is $200 which for me is worth not dealing with the mess in my driveway.
I don't think it's worth an extra $1k to get a fancy new BMW rental loaner car.

Textar pads (OE supplier) for 2010 M3 are $85 for front. Rotors on FCP go around $250. I bet you can find cheaper on some web sites. |

Yes,
Pads+sensor is $450 Rotors are 360/each. The parts set from the above link was $1500, so not far off what I see online. But they won't install customer provided parts. Then 4 hours of labor at $420.

Based on the cost of these parts, I agree. I'm seeing if the dealer will match his price in which case I'll take it to the dealer. Of course they will find other problems to charge me for.
