Anxious for more data/details!
Any idea if they’ll introduce a VT1 version of the G1 kit? Would be a really nice and simple bolt on with the least possible weight. Such a kit is available for the N52. A G1 version of the VT1-550, if you will. Last edited by wyatth; 01-03-2020 at 04:56 AM.. |

Now I just need to see the weights for the Vortech one. Or is the entire kit identical except for the supercharger itself? |

Not sure where people come up with that figure, they aren't taking into account for parts removed from the engine pre-supercharger installation. Note both 91/93 pulleys were listed in the total weight. While both kits are similar: supercharger, bracket and other small parts are different.

Don't forget about all that liquid. How many gallons does the system take? At over 8 lbs/gallon it would be closer to 100 than 70 in my opinion.

I would put it at roughly 1 gallon or so in fluid so around 8lbs there. Another thing to note is the factory manifold, intake, filter and airbox would be subtracted from the extra supercharger weight.

You should weigh what those oem pieces are, that way we'd have a grand total

G1 needs more boost to make the same power because it is a lower capacity blower. More boost means higher effective compression ratio and more heat. So intercooling becomes more necessary on the already high compression S65.

Pardon my ignorance: What would you gain from going up to G1+ if you do not intend to use meth? Upgrade to 7 rib pulleys? The boost pressure is quoted the same so it seems like the same size pulleys, right? It is tuned differently to use larger injectors?

What would you gain? More heat soak based on everything that's been confirmed.

You might gain more low to midrange torque from the planetary gear drive blower in place of the fixed step up ratio blower. I am looking forward to dynos so we can see. I agree the limited info we have now is not promising but I want to remain open minded. As I recall, the AA Rotrex kit (another planetary gear drive unit) offered no real advantage over a Vortech V3 Si kit in terms of dyno results.

Correct, the VT1 kits are no longer available.
